This is just performative politics a.k.a. wayang

They just want something in place, so they can show to international green bodies SG is doing its part in environmental conservation, which will help their good standing.

The prob is, recycling is nvr in our culture, using a machine doesnt really solve the root prob. Perhaps banning plastic bottles would be better, just get your sweetened carbonated drink from a dispenser at the mart.
