Yesterday saw couple of my town council workers redeeming two big bags of cans. So now we are paying them to spend their time to collect and redeem cans for their own benefit.

why would you save anything considering you're AT BEST getting back what you have prepaid for? if anything, it's, more often than not, a cost to you - the water wasted on washing the cans and bottles (if you bother), the real estate space wasted on temporarily housing the washed bottles and cans before they're returned and the time wasted on queuing at the return right machine, especially if you're behind someone with 200 to return.

my household does not do packaged beverages, so it makes no difference to us. but i have to hold my breath whenever i pass by a return right machine, which oftentimes gives off a stench.

This point is so true. Ever since 1st Oct, I stopped buying canned drinks. I will usually 24 cans coke once every few months, now I stopped totally cos damn Tulan to pay $2.40 and have to go to the machine to return 24 empty cans.

This is the best initiative ever to help Chao Sinkies cut down on sugary drinks!!! Better than any campaigns launched by HPB in the past!!!!!
