the power and resources consumed by these return machine, power and resources consumed by these server holding the database, power and resources consumed by the company taking this project. i believe the cost is more than 10cents per can.

Can the forced recycling work against all these additional expenditure? only time will tell.

Almost from day one its smelly
Obviously the ones clearing and cleaning them should do their job

Scholar's PowerPoint slides show it as very nice and clean leh. Don't think they have forsee/anticipated the current state.

I remember very early comms was to encourage people to wash and rinse the cans and bottles BEFORE putting into the machine. Scholars would have never expected that most humans don't follow the instructions.

There's many nuances to it

Staff at super market probably not paid extra to do it
Not told nor going to machine every 1 hour to clean spillages

And not even talking about non super market staff but those roaming and clearing the cans when full

I didn't bother looking at the law
But I don't think its merely a logo which allows them to be sold in Singapore

Its likely the requirement of the beverage companies being registered and be involved in whole scheme
https://sso.agc.gov.sg/act/rsa2019?ProvIds=P14B-#pr23P-

23P.—(1) Subject to subsection (2), any person (including a producer of a beverage product) must not, on or after the prescribed date, supply or offer to supply in Singapore any beverage product, unless the beverage container for the beverage product is affixed with —
(a)a deposit mark; and
(b)a barcode by which the beverage product may be identified.

so as long as there is a BCRS logo and barcode in the beverage, it can be sold in Singapore, but the act never say the barcode must be registered into the BCRS system, so its a loophole
