If results aren't good it is either a rubbish d/w or didn't follow the instructions correctly on the loading etc. Just pay for something recommended in countries where d/w are common. The only downside is the loading/unloading which can be a bit of a chore. Most here don't realise washing needs hot water so d/w is cleaner than most people.

If your skin got condition ( i wish u speedy recovery! ) then probably more push factor for u to use.

Dishes need abit of pre-rinse before putting in dishwasher. else stuck grease etc even with dishwasher. But can really sparkle :s13: ( I used Finish Powerball and Rinse aid then )

I realized I can wash and clean faster than the machine.
I have been doing some research on which dw to buy and seems like you shouldn't even pre rinse the plates but just scrape off the big leftovers.

I used to think dishwasher is a waste of money and water.

I always tried to volunteer to help my wife with washing dishes but she always say my washing is not good enough, or not up to her standards, or still have stains or oily marks here and there, etc. But then she is also fed-up with washing all the time. She complained but at the same time, don't allow me to do it.

How to solve, I just went ahead to buy dishwasher, no washings, no more complaints. I would spend the money to make everyone happy.

I got the Bosch SMS46IW20E - a bit on the expensive side but including installation and got quite a fair amount of cleaning stuff and a rack.

2 thing to share - 1) not all pans/pots are suitable for dishwashers. I am lucky because my wife only uses on stainless steel cookware (she thinks telfon and other non-stick coatings cause cancer, haha).

2) We don't use so many plates and bowls for 1 meal, usually, we will accumulate 2 meals and wash everything together at night + drying. That's the tedious part in keeping them back into the shelves.

It's called using money to buy time. You will surely save time and effort with a dishwasher. And the running of it isn't that expensive actually. Whether to embrace this equipment into your life is up to you actually

Let's put things into perspective, the Bosch dishwasher eco mode uses about ~9L per wash (which is quite little considering the amount of dishes it can wash) and less than 1kWH (which is less than 20cts, depending on your electricity provider). The capsule also don't cost exorbitantly more than using liquid detergent. Cost wise, the biggest investment is the machine itself (which you can get some fairly good deals below $1k from Bosch occasionally). I bought mine for $800-ish.

With my limited experience, loading the dishwasher takes about 15-20 mins for me including scrapping and rinsing food chunks off (I use the largest bowl and keep reusing the water).

Unloading it is the same as manual washing when you keep your utensils after they dry, so I won't think too much about it.

Overall, am I happy? Yes cause I'm abit particular and slow when it comes to handwashing my dishes (I soap and rinse one item at a time). The dishwasher helps me to save time and produce clean dishes. It is even better when there are guests cause it saves even more time to clean up.

Lastly, no more arguing on who to do the dishes cause it's not a big hassle anymore.
