I have a dish washer and its only in use during festive period because I had to utilize it. I am fine just washing the dishes. Stop wasting time on TikTok and start using your hands

I am looking at a dishwasher, simply because it's convenient.

Most people commented - oh yes it's water saving.

But IMO, yes it saves water, but it waste ALOT of electricity - due to the hot water and long washing cycle.
Boh leh i use 30mins cycle. Yes warm water but i skip hot air dry

actually always wonder what is the yardstick that determine " water saving" in these appliances  , my washing machine is 4 ticks but i find that the water it uses per wash and rinse also like a lot.
Because the 4 ticks must use speed/quick/eco wash mode then can achieve water savings. Usually this mode omits one rinse cycle and purposely use less water. It may look good on specs sheet but in actual usage, this mode doesn’t wash as clean as regular wash mode and cannot be used with laundry pods.

Also if you notice carefully, there’s a quite a large variance in water saving between the lowest water usage 4 tick washing machine and other 4 tick. Some 4 ticks only use 3.3L/KG or under 4L/KG while other 4 ticks can use 5.0L/KG or more.

There's a specific Eco mode or something like that. It is certified 4 ticks specifically on that mode, as stated on the sticker. The others, eh... 🥴

No dishwater that scrub and scrub ?

If don't have, disposable can save all troubles and concerns ?
Tried it once overseas. It's definitely many many hours
Many hours. Those food stain like rice or pasta that stick to the bottom of the pot can’t be taken out one .. was cooking a lot using instant pot. But if u like to bake or fry every meal, dishwasher good. And u know it’s definitely germ free. Human got error and hence may not be as clean or got detergent residual

Unless you have A LOT of dishes and utensils to wash daily, maybe even multiple times per day, then I think rethinking and strategising your dish use to the minimum would be much easier to start with. Like eating out of the pot/wok/pan, having more one-pot meals etc.

Otherwise, if you were to get one, the heating isn't as big of an issue like in seasonal climates where the water can be freezing cold and would take a lot of energy to come to proper washing temperature. Once again, it makes more sense if you have a lot of stuff to wash at once.

You can save water washing dishes manually too, so long as you are willing to soak them first, use effective(not super cheap) detergent, and use basins instead of rinsing with running water

Keep mess inside and wash ar 1pm when solar panels are running at peak capacity and the power meter is spinning backwards.

Also plumb in hot water from the solar water heater. Dishwashers work best with heated supply.

Think use hand wash much faster more efficient and saving. Its not like many 吃大餐 every meal. The irony is nowadays family size smaller, many eat alone or don't cook much at all. How much utensil can they have siah to quantify a dishwasher. Seems more of a waste than anything. :s22:

I read this.

My suggestion is to change cooking style. Very unhealthy and toxic cooked food ?

If quote: "rice and pasta can stick to the bottom of the pot can't be taken out one", either it means the cooking pot is spoilt or damaged and it is time to change a new or alternative one or cooking style is unhealthy or bad and stop eating such food into own body ?

If it can be so stubborn being stick to the bottom of the pot, the food nutrition may be lost or even turn cancerous provided the cooking pot is working and not damage ?

Baking and frying is especially unhealthy and bad for carbs and sugar inclusive ingredients such as rice and pasta ? Such cooking style creates alot of aftercooked cancerous substances or unhealthy substances that damages body organs and blood cells and blood vessels ?

As for germ free or detergent free, it depends on one's washing process and habits ?

I agree that washing under hot water do reduce germs but not sure dishwasher will guaranteed detergent residue free after prolong usage and wear and tear ?

Many people nowadays buy and throw creating alot of unnecessary expenditures and wastage ?

What works well and good in the past of many human generations will still work well in many human current and future generations ?

No leh, unless you are the kind who expects dishes to be done in 1 hr flat and never use eco mode then yes will use a lot of electricity.

I've always used eco mode and run my dishes overnight, so no issues. Spend a bit more for a dishwasher that heats up water using heat pump tech, and it wont use a lot of electricity.

It's always back to the fast, cheap, good trifecta. Choose 2. I choose cheap and good for cleaning cycle, as washing overnight using eco mode isn't an issue for me.

Look at how often and how many plates, cutlery, etc one has to wash every day/week/month.

This depends how often one cook & how many people in household.

I bought a tabletop dishwasher last year just for fun. For our small household of three, it turned out to be one of the best decisions in a while.
It saves on utility bills and, most importantly, saves me a lot of time. It also uses less water than washing under a running tap, and the dishes come out very clean because the wash temperature is higher.
