Any advice on how to choose motherboards? All I know is that I want something that has DDR4, USB 3.0 and supports overclocking (so Z170 or X99) lol.

well for me on choosing a mobo is 1st what are the features u need and are u gonna add on another parts like having another gpu to sli or cf or more usb ports or sata ports etc (means u need more pci-e slots). den sources out the mobo that that fits my needs and budget, but if u want looks and everything, be prepare to pay a little extra for the prices. :o

well that's basically for choosing a mobo lol.

See which processor u want.
Then search for brands, normally people search Asus, gigabyte, MSI, asrock.
Then read reviews. Or just go newegg and Amazon and see the rating

Comgateway, borderlinx, vpost and ezbuy are the popular ones.

Worth anot u have to ownself calculate. As a guide average forwarding cost for mobo will be 20sgd to 30sgd. If ur mobo over 400sgd must add 7% gst.

Normally people get from Amazon when got huge discount or SG don't bring in the mobo. Hope this helps :)

^^^^^^^^^^

yea, I think if it is like a black Friday sale, then will be worth it, if not sometimes it might even cost more.

at least for me, PSU, MOBO and CPU not really worth it to buy at amazon. The prices after shipping (ignoring those cheapos that pester the CSO for free shipping) compared to singapore is similar or sometimes more expensive. furthermore, buying in singapore ensures you have local warranty.

casing i will consider if it is not sold in singapore. chances are its gonna be quite expensive as well due to weight.

RAM and GPU are both very good items to get online for very good prices. of course do take into consideration warranty again. its quite troublesome if your online purchased GPU dies.

PSU OK what, is the warranty troublesome only, I got a 850w evga PSU from amazon for around the price of a 500-600w PSU from local
If ur item DOA then u really Suay lo, so far amazon deliveries have been OK for me, even though the PSU was delivered by aramex 2months ago :s13::s13:

Casing is probably the only one that I will get in Singapore... The shipping is just insane due to the box's big dimensions and weight.

Monitor... can get from qoo10 with free shipping so I haven't been buying from local.

The rest I'll probably also get from Amazon.

My PSU I bought from SLS for a decent price because my old one broke down suddenly and I cannot bear to wait. But in a normal situation I'll probably also buy online :s13:

DOA just send back Amazon. Got 30 day 1 to 1. After that send to Evga Taiwan.

From what i read, people have very good experience with Evga tw compared to local distros. Plus u don't have to take leave and queue up at distro centre

I bought the LG 29UM58 from qoo10, 330sgd with free shipping. It's a discontinued model, that's why I got it cheap. Shipped from South Korea, I got it in 3-4 working days.

I see it's going for 313sgd now with free shipping.

I was initially tempted by the 29UC97C for about 600sgd, but I think I'll just go for a normal ultrawide now first, then upgrade when I see a good deal for a curved ultrawide with adaptive frame rate.

what if i tell you shipping can be free for casing?
lol i got mine free

I'm sure there can be some places that can have free shipping for cases. But if you're like me, die die only want to buy that particular casing, then options become more limited.

The case I want is the thermaltake core v1, for about 48usd on amazon right now = 65-70SGD. I have already found a local source that is selling for 70SGD.
