DIY PC Advise Needed

Intending to built a PC for nephew. Planning for a mid range (capping at $2K) for his gaming like Fortnite and CS GO.

Asus TUF Z590 Plus Wifi + I5 11600 3.9 (or is it better with I7 11700 3.6)
Samsung 980 M.2 NVME - 500GB
Asus GT1030 2GB GDDR5
G.Skill Trident Z RGB 3200MHZ CL16 (2x8GB)
Aorus P750W 80+Gold
Lian-Li Lancool II ATX - Wht TG (GPU are above this is like quite high though)

Just get a I5 11400F and decent B560 mobo if you intend to use a GPU. For his games, GTX 1660 Super would be great but its tough to get one now.

get him legion 5 gaming laptop with gtx1650 less than $1600. can play all 1080p games on max. u can find at lenovo online, best denki and challenger

thank you both, he will very much prefer a desktop. will try to source for a GTX1660 or equivalent, and lower from 11600 to 11400.

can buy those pre-builts systems from Dreamcore or Aftershock for below 2k ...got a CEE sales on now. The graphics card can get a RX6700XT or RTX3060 Gaming X, entry model graphics cards but good enough for 1080p games.

just bought one for my kid to play Roblox......

CS:GO and Fortnite, seriously even 10th gen intel will do. i5 10600K is a great bargain now, 6 cores unlocked for under $300, if not you can try go for i5 11400. Atm this chip cost even more than the 10600K but because it is in higher demand. The main features other than IPC gains are PCIe 4.0, which most people will utilize for the SSD.

However I don't think it is a deal-breaker. I have two rigs, one with 10th gen another with 11th gen and no complaints whatsoever on the 10th gen. Frankly speaking the difference between a Gen 3 SSD and a (much more pricey) Gen 4 SSD are not large. Maybe 1 or 2s in real life scenarios AT BEST. GPU wise, PCIe 3.0 x8 is already sufficient even for the best of today's offerings, and if you're running 1 GPU you will get full x16 bandwidth anyway.

Whichever you choose, get at least either a B560 or Z490 mobo for the memory overclocking. 3200 MHz - 3600MHz offer good price-performance for memory for intel platforms. If you get a Z490 mobo and a 11th gen CPU, do make sure the board supports 11th gen processors and that it ships with the updated BIOS or you can flash BIOS before installing the CPU, otherwise your system won't boot. Do note also that if you install a 10th Gen CPU on a 500-series mobo, the 1st M.2 slot (usually the one closest to the socket) will be disabled.

i think use 2 slots, another 2 in near future if need add another 16 gb. For secondary kids hardly needing 32gb (i guess)

980 is DRAMless so for gaming 970 would be better. It cost around $20 more.
Asus GT1030 2GB GDDR5 - Get Geforce 1660 series but not GT1030.
GT1030 isn't for gaming, game performance is terrible.
G.Skill Trident Z RGB 3200MHZ CL16 (2x8GB) Or Corsair.

SSD, Graphic card and PSU change than you are good to go.
However Graphic card stock can be hard to find.

im abit greedy to be honest, thinking on a long haul by having a better/newer mobo (gen 11) and processor as base. will visit SLS and see if i could still get hold of a Z490 as the price list available online already remove them.

Would like to know what Set-up will be the most affordable for my usage.

I am intending to get either a laptop or a desktop for the following needs.

1) Being able to run 4 instances without lagging for LD player android emulator. (Game to be played, Perfect World 完美世界 3D game
2) able to support Microsoft flight simulator ,Cities: Skyline, GTA and Truck Simulator.
3) Future proofing for the above reversion of games for the next 3-5 Years

May i know what processor , graphic card , Ram is required for a set up like that and is a budget of 2k is stretching over the limit.

not on drugs, but spending $669 on GTX1060 6gb OC vs $189 on 1030 2gb during this gfx shortage time may be a little over rated. I am thinking to wait till it drops to a normal $400 before getting a replacement since nephew games like CS:Go and Fortnite can run on the 1030.

u want to list your budget down? imo if u are not a hands on tech person, maybe it is really worth to get from dreamcore or aftershock as recommended by the rest of the experts in this thread. their warranty of 3 years is attractive though.

You can definitely play cs go or fornite with the gt 1030. It is after all marketed to be use as a esports gaming gpu. The gt 1030 will do fine playing e sports titles like fortnite or cs go. Or you can game on amd's apu the 3400g, 5600g etc. Don't waste your money buying overly expensive scalper prices 1660super that goes for $969 or rtx 3080 ti for msrp of 1200 USD.

Just use the gt 1030 for now and upgrade to a better gpu when pandemic ends and crypto prices drops.

As long as you are not trying to play at 1440p or 4k 240hz can already.

Why would you want to waste money on expensive gpu when all your nephew is playing is only fortnite and cs go? It makes no sense. Assuming he is not running on 4k monitor or some hard to drive high end monitor.

Or you can try to build a new system with amd's apu the 3400g, 5600g etc no need to buy any gpu and can play cs go fortnite no problem.
