Anyone build any budget system for stable diffusion?
for ai tasks, generally u would want to look at nvidia. u can take the value gaming pc recommendation and swap out the 7600 for a 4060 if u are okay with 8gb of vram. if not, u likely have to look on the used market for 2080tis. if not okay with used, next step up is 4060ti 16gb already, but i wouldnt call the entire system budget at that point...

What about amd 5600x + 3060 12gb vram + ssd? I presume 2080ti is lower specs that 3060 and 4060 also?

not a bad choice too, though 3060 is quite slow by today's standards. u should do ur research to see how it stands relative to other cards in ur intended workload (stable diffusion has quite a few different implementations).
I presume 2080ti is lower specs that 3060 and 4060 also?
yep as mindgamey mentioned, 2080ti is similar to 3070 in gaming performance. so it is generally faster than both 3060 and 4060.
Strange 2080ti seem like more ex than 3080ti
where do u see that and how much? if so then between the two u should get the 3080ti, though a 4070 may make more sense.

that is insanely cheap. I would top up for a better psu like the rog strix 750w and if ur budget allows, a cooler upgrade to something like the pa120 (though u might need to contact them) and the ram upgrade to 2x 16gb 6000c36.

Actually this price quite steady. If you customised a set at sim Lim, I think you spend same price but get lousier spec

c30 is shorthand for cl30. cl refers to cas latency, which refers to the number of clock cycles the ram needs to access and return data after a read command is given to it. the faster ur ram can access data stored on it the better, so ideally u would aim for a kit with a lower cl value (in turn meaning lower latency) at the same frequency (mhz).

go for 32GB RAM. I think the upgrade was less then $50

Also, if you are okay with last gen CPU (5600), for around 1700 you can get the 4070 TI

i wouldnt recommend it, the 5600 will almost certainly bottleneck the 4070ti at any resolution lower than 4k (and might still be an issue at 4k).

Hi is there any recommendation for a gaming PC. 1440p.
Planning to get the whole system build by someone (eg, Invader or Aftershock or private builder.) li so as to minimize headache when got issue and need to diagnose parts by parts.

Several thing I am unclear on
- go for RTX 4070? or is RTX3070 more value for money? or is 4060/3060 good enug?
- DDR4/DDR5? 16G or 32G

Budget ~1.3k - 1.4k

Work backwards from the target end-state you want.

When you say 1440p gaming, are you looking for high-end AAA games (e.g., Starfield / Hogwarts / Control) or low-to-mid-end games? Ultra / high settings? 60 fps or 30 fps?

Generally, if you are fine with dialing back some settings so that you game on "high" instead of "ultra", and you're fine with 30 fps, then no need for 4070. 3070 or even 4060 / 3060 good enough.

I would say a mixed of new and old games. High setting would be enug but 60FPS on average would be good.
On very high demanding titles, I dont mind going medium setting but still wish to average 60 FPS.

Would 4060 still achieve that?
