Hi guys,

I bought the NAS 323. Went back and setup the RAID 1 configuration. Everything works fine.

I now wish to configure the NAS to hold four volumes. Each with its own drive letter. ie.e. (x:, y:, z:) so that I can assign each drive to different PCs in the house. Can I ask how can I do it?

I can reformat the drives using the Web Admin page but not sure how to do it as I can only format to Volume 1 and nothing else?

How can I partition the drive and still maintain RAID 1 configuration?

Sorry for the stupid question as first time using NAS

OK i copied all the resume files and I copied all the torrents over. When I open transmission the old files not there.

But when i open one uncompleted torrent it resumes from where I last stop!

But the problem is i need to reopen the torrents one by one. Can one shot open all?
telnet in to do that. transmission-remote -a <path>*.torrent

this is a nas you don have to do that. to assign "drives" what you can do is use folders and map drive letters on the client pc to individual folders.

If your intention is to have separate "private partitions" for each computer, it would be better to create users/groups and assign appropriate rights.

Hi, I just bought this NAS as a shared storage for my family. What I want to do is to create personal (private) folder for each member and then have a common shared folder.

I have set up the users and groups. But I have trouble revoking the rights of other users to the private folders. May I know how to do it (ideally using the web interface)? Thanks!

Hi guys, I'm new to the scene and am interested in getting this NAS but gt a few qns abt it. Hopefully u guys can help.

1. Can I install a 1TB hdd and then transfer data into it first, and subsequently put in another hdd of the same size and configure it as RAID 1? Will the device mirror my data from hdd1 to hdd2

2. If I change 1 of the hdd in future to one with a higher capacity, will there be any problems with my data?will data from the old hdd be mirrored over?

3. Am I able to configure the device so that I can enter the admin page of the NAS remotely?

- u need to reformat as RAID1

2. If I change 1 of the hdd in future to one with a higher capacity, will there be any problems with my data?will data from the old hdd be mirrored over?
for this then this is not suitable for you as Netgear will have this function

So I can't configure it as RAID1 from the start when I start using the first hdd?

Might there be a probability that future firmware upgrades will solve this issue. Netgear's NAS seems more like for businesses, price wise might not fit my budget :D

Hi all

I have noticed that I am not able to stream SD videos from the device smoothly. Am I doing something wrongly? Is there something I can do to improve the transfer rate? Thanks!

Guys I would like to warn ppl who are going for Transmission 1.92-1. It is very unstable. It will cause connection with 323 to be lost.
And even after reboot things will resume only for awhile before it lost connection with server again.
So i uninstall 1.92-1 and revert back to 1.91-1 and things are much better. Well atleast it does not hang.

Guys, anyone knows how to correctly configure FTP for this NAS? i followed the steps i found online but couldn't get it to work. Can only access it through local ip address at home, entered ddns host name at my friend's hse but can't get in, tried to ping from outside but can't get through also

My configuration is as such: NAS -> Singtel Aztech DSL1000ER Modem Router

Here's wad i did:
1. Create static IP for NAS 192.168.1.xx
2. Forward ports 20 and 21 on modem router to static ip
3. Register and create host at dlinkddns.com
4. Input my ddns login details into NAS
5. Created user on NAS
6. Added user to FTP access list
7. FTP Server settings: Idle time-10mins, Port-21, Passive Mode-Use default port range, client language-western european, flow control-unlimited
8. Started FTP server.

Is there any more steps that I missed out?

Check that your DDNS is pointing to the right IP address.

Haha. Got the same feeling. The domain might probably be pointing to a local address!
