Hi i just installed the d-link dns-323, however i have no idea how to access my drive. I am firmware version 1.03..

1, Search utility finds the device dlink-95D123 at top, ip netmask, gateway address in the middle and volume 1 at the bottom.

2. when i click on CONNECT for VOLUME 1 it comes with a message FAILED TO MAP DRIVE

what am i doing wrong?

also in the configuaration it did say that if i want to access my drive, need to enter dlink-95D123 on my browzer so on my internet browzer i type http://dlink-95D123 but doesnt work.

What am i doing wrong?

Appreciate your help and i thank you in advance,

Anyone can help please?

Oh god. You don't need to set the workgroup. Under Leopard, SMB shares appear under Shared in Finder. If it isn't discovered you can always connect to it via IP address. Under Finder>Go>Connect To>smb://ipaddress.

to delete fun_plug, you need to telnet/ssj in first. then "rm -rf /mnt/HD_a2/fun_plug.d /mnt/HD_a2/fun_plug"

edit: after that reboot your nas and everything back to original

appreciate a more layman description. I open explorer in windows vista, and see a few folders like what fun plug and donkey stuff, which I highlight and delete but it does not delete. What is telnet/ssj?

i'm actually quite adverse to people not knowing nuts and bad at self-learning and researching to try stuff like this. it's better that you stick to an out of box solution ain't it? you have little use for such enhancements anyway right?

anyway, click "start", click "run", type "cmd", type "telnet <nas ip>", type "rm -rf /mnt/HD_a2/fun_plug.d /mnt/HD_a2/fun_plug", type "exit", type "exit".

if the above dun match, use some initiative. i'm doing this off memory as i'm not on windows typing this. the worst you can do is to leave it there. it's not taking much space and not doing much bad anyway.

thanks. That sounds more easy to follow. I though GUI has already taken over after the DOS 5.0 days. I guess I will stick to using it as a share storage and print server. BT on this thing is beyond me, will just keep my PC up for BT. I have already become a total dummy.

you should understand and be prepared to undertake the associated risks with bringing the box out of the factory state.

previously on my router i did lots of research, had most of the documents on hand, etc. but i still managed to brick my router during the reversal process. ended up i have to go through my old peripherals and extract components to make a jtag interface and the cable just to revive it.

linux skill level 0 .... can still setup DNS323 ???

Are you and888? Why reply me with regards to the manual partitioning of the drive? It require you to edit system files in a console/command prompt linux environment at your own risk.

If no skills, just use the default webpage or easy search utility out of the box. There's also the manual... You can use the default JBOD, individual harddrive default partition setup, RAID-0, or RAID-1.

Standard questions that are repeated based on typical standard usage, just search this thread or read provided links on page 1.

I've created a package based on andy's trasnmission for ffp exp 0.5

http://www.uploading.com/files/R4RMI1XE/transmission-1.06.tgz.html

wrote the startscript myself, it'll downloads to /mnt/HD_a2/downloads, and runs as "nobody" user so that you can manage your downloads from your shared dir n ftp.
To manage use clutch or command line (need to "export TRANSMISSION_HOME=/mnt/HD_a2/downloads/.transmission")

it depends on what you're using it for.

If you use it as a files, medias and printer sharing, then it is very easy to install with ample instructions from dlink

But if you decide to go beyond that, then you need skills and patience...
