i tried on mine, does not work at all

perhaps it would be more useful if you could explain on how you actually did the port forwarding and what port was used. What IP address your DNS-323 has on the LAN and how you determined your WAN IP address.

Basically what I did is i assign static IP for the dns-323 and do port forwarding for port 80 to dns-323 static IP on the router.

my wan IP is on DDNS.

shawdow or anyone pls help

Does your ISP permits end user hosting services on port 80? Perhaps you can go www.grc.com and do a shieldsup test on your TCP port 80. If it is reported as "Stealth" or "Closed", then it is probably you didn't port forward correctly or your ISP don't permit you to host services on port 80.

Just thought of telling you guys my personal feedback..

I bought the DNS-323 as a NAS Backup for my 2 x VMware Hosts using Acronis Linux. So far so good. Only issue is that I find that the Network Access is pretty slow when both my Acronis are running together.

One Host's speed would be relatively good, but the other would almost certainly slow down to less then 100Mbps sort of speed, macham like waiting for the other to finish. Once the 1st host is done, the speed of the other host will automatically pick up...

Overall, good stuff lar still!

You can't use ports 80, 21 blah (HTTP, FTP) as they are blocked by most ISPs. Try 8080 or something else in the higher ranges.

Mine I basically forwarded the external port to a local IP/port. You can leave the internal port as 80 if you haven't changed that for your DNS-323.

Hi, i saw HD_a4 and HD_a2 in the /mnt directory. I saw the HD_a4 actually contain the data but HD_a2 contain nothing. So what is the use of HD_a2 and can delete it since it is useless?

I went there few day after the promotion is announced, it really sold out by then.

Anyone know why using gigabit ethernet when transferring data back and forth only yield around 15 to 20mb/sec.
But not 100mb/sec? or at least 50mb/sec?

I now just need to find a streaming PnP AV server which will work with the XBox 360 as the current compiled version of uStream which worked fine with ffp 0.4 will not work wih ffp 0.5.

Any suggestions for streaming to XBox 360 ?

RB

bro, go to your dlink web console > Advance Tab > uPnP AV server > make sure that your AV service is enabled then changed the folder access to another sub folder instead of "root" or "Volume_1"

now i'am able to stream my AV files from my NAS to my PS3.. and i didnt bother to install any 3rd party apps on my ps3 nor my dlink dns-323 device..

hope this help.

Hi,

I bought a DNS 323 h/w vB1, FW 1.03. And with a Samsung 1TB HDD.

Unfortunately I have not been able to format the drive successfully so far. With FW 1.03 it got stuck at 94% progress and just stays there. I upgraded to FW 1.05 but after formatting about 10+ % it jumps to 100% and then complains format failure.

Anyone got these 2 combination (DNS 323 and 1TB Samsung) working together successfully? Any help much appreciated. Thanks.

Yes I tried hard reset. I don't have any SATA equiped PC around to test the disk, neither another hard disk. ;-(.

Also tried fw 1.04. No luck.
