Hi all!

Seeking help about my DNS-323 default in-built bittorrent wasn't downloading nor i use get bittorrent file function on DNS-323, previously on Linksys router works perfectly until i change my router. Below some configuration on my DIR-655 & DNS-323, your help's deeply appreciated, this thing driving me crazy.

On DIR-655:
Hardware Version: A3
Firmware Version: 1.13SH
Portforward
TCP Port : 6881
IP Address: 192.168.0.198 (my DNS-323)

On DNS-323:
Port Settings: Default (6881)

thanks!

best wishes~
Try not using port 6881...not only allow TCP but UPC too.

OK your suggestion is take out 500Gb (currently using) from slot A then slot in new drive into slot B.
Then boot up DNS323. It will then format this new HDD in slot B. Once done. POwer down and insert back old HDD into original slot A.

This time i power up will see 2 drives and my previous installations of funplug, etc for BT will still be there no change no need to reinstall?

Sorry just wanna be sure. Dun want take out put back then DNS323 format my old HDD or don't detect it.
Sorry can the sexperts reconfirm before I jump?

Hi Bieffe,

thanks for your help. I have tired configure that you mention but it still won't work.

Port Forwarding on DIR-655:
TCP: 1105
UCP: 1105
IP: 192.168.0.198 (DNS-323)

on DNS-323 side:
Incoming port: 1105

best wishes.

Does migrating my hard disk from the 323 to 343 require a reformat of my hard disk? Dont want to lose my current data from the 323.

How do we "take care" of the HDD in 323? AS we write and copy so many files all the time.
Normally we can do defrag etc but how or what shall we do the keep the HDD in 323 healthy?

I also notice my 323 also getting laggy. In the pass i click on a video file. Very fast open in windows player. Now i click on it. Takes like 10 sec before it loads. The werid thing is only the newer files have this problem. Some of the older files still load fast.

Question : Why can´t I see my files, on the first drive, after adding a second drive?

If you start with one drive, and it is in the left bay, it will be Volume 1. And when you add the second drive it will become Volume 2 and the right drive will become Volume 1.

At this point, when the user accesses Volume 1, it will appear as if all of the information is gone, but it´s actually on Volume 2.

If you switch the physical position of the first drive to the Right bay, you will be able to access the files.

The reason this happens is:

There are logical volumes and physical volumes.

A physical volume refers to the actual hard drive.
A logical volume refers to a formatted partition.

In Standard mode with one disk , the physical volume is irrelevant and the logical volume is Volume 1 regardless of which bay the drive is in.

In Standard mode with two disks, the physical location of the disks will determine which volume is which drive. Volume 1 is always on the right and Volume 2 is always on the left.

Does migrating my hard disk from the 323 to 343 require a reformat of my hard disk? Dont want to lose my current data from the 323.

i was in the same situation recently. had 2tb of data from dns323. but when i slotted the two hdd into the dns343 i was prompted to format them. out of desperation, i managed to write a simple script so that the data would simply read on the dns343 and would not require me to reformat my hdd. here is how. hope this helps anyone else who is in the same situation

situation = to simply transfer 2 hdd from dns323 to dns343 without reformatting hdd
fun plug version = 0.5
dns343 version = firmware 1.3B 60 (ftp://203.126.164.142/download/DNS-343/)
protocol = currently only nfs

you would need an extra hdd (HD_a2) to install and boot fun plug with so you can telnet into the dns343 to make the changes

edit this into /ffp/etc/fun_plug.init
mkdir /mnt/HD_b2
mkdir /mnt/HD_c2
mount /dev/sdb2 /mnt/HD_b2
mount /dev/sdb2 /mnt/HD_c2
echo '/mnt/HD_b2 10.0.0.0/24(rw,no_root_squash)' >>/etc/exports
echo '/mnt/HD_c2 10.0.0.0/24(rw,no_root_squash)' >>/etc/exports
./ffp/start/unfsd restart

reboot and you would be able to use the data on the two hdd from dns343 using the nfs protocol. it would be appreciated if anyone can work on it more or the samba protocol. cheers

hey guys..

i want to add another 500G to the 323..

i already have a 1TB on the 323 all formated and ready.

so i just add the other 500G into the other bay and then it will prompt me to format that 500G? or will it prompt me to format both??
