YA scanning over network device other than that from the printer itself most likely cannot work.

My current DNS-323 has a 500GB and a 1.5TB HDD. Now I intend to replace the 500GB with a new 1.5TB and thus need to transfer files over (i.e. 500GB to new 1.5TB). I tried to do Copy/Cut & Paste and even xcopy and find that it takes a long time to complete (runnning for hours now and yet, still no sign it's about to be completed).

Any idea? Sorry if this has been asked before...

it does take awhile depending on total size to transfer.
Try just 3 files and note their total size....then copy over. See how long it takes. then you can estimate how long its gonna take you.

I do recall transmission had some command to copy.

hi can i check i am using 2wire 2700 mio modem but it is having problem with my new nas 323. i can ftp inside my network but i cant ftp outside my network unless i enable DMZPLUS mode.

Already tried to port forward using 2wire configuration page but all port dont work unless i use dmzplus then i can connect outside my network

Tried
1077
40000
21
1025
1035

Is DMZPlus mode safe to turn on without HDD being hacked?

I already went through countless reading with no answer

Thanks

can anyone help thanks

if your current 1.5TB has got sufficient space, you can do a cp -a to copy all the files on the 500GB to the 1.5TB.

Assuming 500GB is Volume_1 and 1.5TB is Volume_2. Simply telnet in then issue the commands

mkdir -p /mnt/HD_b2/backup
cp -a /mnt/HD_a2 /mnt/HD_b2/backup

Doing a disk to disk transfer using DNS-323 itself is faster.

Thanks shadowandy. That's what I thought too, since I kinda assumed that DNS-323's Linux OS will treat the 2 HDD as local hdd and thus will just do an internal transfer (i.e. not involving the network).

Thing is that I couldn't get telnet to startup now. It used to work before and I think after I changed hdd (and thus, volume_1) something went wrong. I've tried copying the 2 fun_plug files but couldn't telnet. Anyway, will look into this. Thanks!

:Later,

Try checking the fun_plug log file, most likely your fun_plugged hard disk isn't Volume_1. Just swap the hard disk around and see if it starts up.

If your files are critical, remember to do a md5sum check to ensure the files are copied correctly
