Getting very slow transfer rates when copying files from PC to NAS - only 10.5 Mb/s.

How do I speed up transfer? Using SMC WBR14s router.

u transferring files wired or wirelessly?

its not a gigabit router so transferring via wired at 10.5MB/s equate to around 84mbps is normal

whereas if u are transferring via wireless using wireless n adaptor and get around 84mbps, its considered very good already

I mean what steps do i have to do to access my 323 over the internet from anywhere?

check:
is ftp running?
is the portforwarding correct? (usually set static ip on nas, port forward 21 for ftp)
is the nas public ip address (which is infact your bb ip address) identifiable in the internet? you can use dynamic dns services from dyndns or dlinkddns.

FTP status is started on the NAS
Port forwarding is correct, i've port forwarded to 65510 on my router and set the same port on the NAS
i've created an account with dyndns.org and updated the hostname on my router

the problem is what do i type in the browser address to access my NAS?

do i type this?

ftp://xxxxxxx.dyndns.org:65510/

I only see the below with no files to be seen

Index of ftp://XXXXX.dyndns.org:65510/

Up to higher level directory

FINALLY GOT DNS-323 to work.... but.....

Hi all

After some long lapse of exploring and trying, I finally got my dns-323 to work: at least on accessing the folders and the printer connection.

HOWEVER, I am now face with a new problem:

- Each time, I boot up my PC or notebook, after typing in the password (both using VISTA), the PC and notebook screen went blank but I can hear the hardisk running. It took 10-15 minutes for the VISTA front menu to load. THere will be a message at the bottom right screen:

Could not reconnect all network drives

I have created 3 or 4 folders to be accessed from each PC. I think it probably taking a long time to try to connect with those folders but failed. This happens in both cases when the DNS-323 is turned on and when it is shut off.

Anyone here has this problem? Can you help?

THanks
Regards
Bob

I not sure how u run into this problem and then managed to connect and end up where u are now.
Anyway have it occured to u that ur set maybe faulty? Firmware is corrupted?

I too got problem when I connected my printer to the 323 so try to remove it 1st. Did u also follow instructions to connect the drive and run the utility provided to discover the drive? Sometimes is the simple things that we over look that cause big problems.
