I see. So it can be played through streaming?

shadowandy: If i played through wireless connection does it still work?

Really depends on your wireless speed and the type of content. One of my wireless PC is linked at 270mbps and have no problem watching video contents.

that's what i always do. Mine applies as well, wired is fine. wireless headache. be it using wireless n or g.

My old IBM T43 could play movies directly off the DNS-323 though. Did you try repositioning your wireless access point?

That is pretty weird. My T43 is separated by 1 concrete wall and 1 wooden wardrobe and I don't face the issue.

Are you watching those HD contents? I didn't try playing HD contents directly due to its sheer size.

nope, its just those normal divx contents.

It have been like this from the very first day despite changing to a different harddisk.

1. I've eliminate the problem lies with the hdd

2. I've been to DLINK Service Centre to replace my router(on a different issue) came back and it still behaves in such manner.

Just curious, what (services) are you running on the DNS-323?

I can play HD over 100mbps wired.

HD over 54mbps wireless will get staggering, but SD is fine. I think I tried before 11mbps (802.11b) with those vcd-resolutions videos before over windows sharing

ehs.. none. except filesharing.

No, iTunes, BT, FTP, UPnP nor DHCP.

That's pretty weird. How are your items placed? Is it really like what you have mentioned? Laptop (wireless) at the side of router which is then linked to the DNS-323?

You may wish to check if there are alot of wireless packet errors.

well, there isn't any reason why i have to lie. hahas.

the distance between the router and my notebook is 1/2 arm's length. line of sight.

wireless packet errors? doesnt have any, seriously. based on CMD of course. hahas.

Haha. It is not that I am checking if you are lying or not. Cos I am not sure whether there are issues if items are placed too near.

Wireless Packet Errors you should be able to check in the web admin of DIR-655. If the % is high, it might shed some light (e.g. interference)

Try changing the wifi channel on your router (usual 6). Maybe got interference on the default channel.

Change the WiFi Channel Number to Avoid Interference

Sometimes too near, signal too strong can result in distortion. (wild guess)

those basic stuffs i've already tried before - is off not much help either.

Not sure if there is an optimum value or range for all these statistics. Any more DIR-655 users?

i can do 700GB of transfer and have no corrupting or bad files issues. Only when watching movies over it is my only complain. lol.

The errors might not result in data corruption as the system will ask for the resend of the particular packet.

Movie watching is time sensitive, if packets get resend too often, the player cannot play the next segment of the movie resulting in freezing/stuttering of movies.
