Maybe to discuss so it benefit everyone. I need to put on my intellectual hat so that I can discuss this with HDB and SPF scholars

CCTV means “closed-circuit television” and is commonly known as a video surveillance technology. “Closed-circuit” means broadcasts are limited (closed) to a selected group of monitors, unlike “regular” TV, which can be received and viewed by whoever sets up a reception device.

Video doorbells are doorbells that have a built-in camera to help protect your home from package theft and burglary.

If we assess like a professor marking exam papers, both are obviously different. Now back to the NEA assessment. HDB flat owners are not allowed to install CCTV cameras at their unit's main door facing the common corridor or common areas, to protect the privacy of their neighbours.

2 argument:
(1) Doorbell is not CCTV
(2) HDB got “private” corridor? Serious boh? Unless you are staying in landed, all corridor are common lei. Even the piece in front of your HDB flat is common. To conclude, CCTV cannot install outside HDB front door but doorbell camera can. End of the day also depends on your neighbours. Heng I don’t stay in HDB so don’t care

Eventually it will be like mindef camps vs handphone cameras.

Most of the smart doorbells all have some kind of video recordings..

Any idea for the Eufy Dual 2k battery doorbell, if i hardwire it, will it also have the 3 seconds s of footage prior to the initial alert?

Considering between this and aqara G4. Dual seems better in resolution but concerned if it lags in capturing footages and fail to capture this first few seconds of the event.

I didn't do any special conversion. but mine shows the powered icon ever since I connected it lol. I believe if I do turn off the switch it will switch to battery power but I haven't had to manually check power or do anything on it for the past 3 months already

yup I am using Eufy Dual for about 6 months plus now. Mine is battery version but it's wired up to an adapter anyway and I haven't had to worry about power for it all along

no.. if u read the link it's actually quite simple. can quite easily DIY unless yours is old flat without that wiring

Mine foc de, install digital lock they gift me.

Tuya brand, works fine. People ring my bell will send alert, I can comms with the person from my phone and also see where my parents run out and back and if they anyhow open door for people.

Yesterday caught Jehovah Witnesses outside my gate talking to my dad. I called back ask him to close the door don't talk so much with them LOL.

Got motion sensor also, will snap pic send to my mobile app as well.

What is the model for tuya? How many can access the app?

For landed hses, usually they have intercom doorbell with cameras connected to isolated circuit box for electricity. Maybe better to contact security professionals.

I didn't manage to read through 24 pages of threads. In the most recent conversation, Eufy Dual and Aqara G4 were mentioned. I have been using Veiu mini which replaced the whole peepviewer in the wooden door. These two models are more of the stick-on-door kind?

have chance to visit USA and hand carry back a Google nest doorbell battery edition, USD109, good price at Fred Meyer physical store.

setup is easy, my home is with full Google system.
I don't do any drilling and wiring, just use 3M tape to fix it on my main door.


usage impression
1. no notification lag,
2. door bell announcement is responsive ,almost instant
so happen I have parcels to receive and amazon staff are kind enough to press door bell .
I first get the notification of detecting people carry parcels and later door bell announcement, total 2 notifications.

3. battery life, yet to know, on average we get about 5 notifications which video recording taken place.
estimated to last 6 -8 weeks.
I have adjusted the sensitivity to only activate notification when someone Walk really close to my house , this also serve privacy protection in a way, no monitoring of neighbors opening their main door.

4. feature wise, it is handy especially for the capturing zone customization which allows user to sketch which area to capture events of, object detection, and there are objects resolution to define human, animals, parcels, cars.

overall worth the money,
