The rules of the forum state that members are not allowed to name call people.

My recent report was rejected with the message: "Unfortunately, your recent report has been rejected: Post in thread 'What is the diff between deevapali vs diwali?' - Relax.. and chill"

The post in question is this: https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/...en-deevapali-vs-diwali.6635054/post-137745281

I can't help if you too lazy or maybe dumb to read the many posts/threads here explaining.

Some other posts where he insults people are here:

It's always nice to see someone so enamored to read my posts.
Heck she even did a collation once and started a thread.

No wonder Kurt Tay gets so sexcited. Any attention is good...... :ROFLMAO:

Good. So when will Singapore abolish NS? Since we should walk the talk instead of fighting back.

So calling other people as "dumb" can but call other people as "Prata" cannot ?

Prata is a gourmet treat and it is not even a rude word to begin and I kenna 3 points for that just because the person I call as Prata is a opposition leader ?

Ok back to the topic, my humble point of view is that no one like the people they respected to be subject to name calling and ridicule. Thus when you do name calling, be prepared that there would be people reporting on you.
I have reports that i made that got rejected too. But i believe an eye for an eye will leave the whole world blind so i try not to react to things as such.
Just my humble point of view since i happen to be surfing around now for info and entertainment.

However the balance is tiled when someone with power issue 3 points out.

Since Admin back up the Mod action now we can see they unleash a wave of complain by EDMW members against each other.

It is true you did name calling on someone, someone reported you. The mod has given the reason for the 3 points. Maybe it help to deter other from name calling or name calling the specified leader. It seem fair enough to me.
Unless you can justify why you have to resort to name calling and that 3 points is too harsh for your name calling.
For the specified person that TS is refering to, he have gotten his shares of infractions too. Though i rather not talk about for now whether i think he deserved to be banned.

Let me tell you something. You're barking up the wrong tree.
I dunno if you're a minority, but I sure am. And I have grown up here and lived much longer than you.
You must understand what actually is racism and what is a racist. And what are racist remarks.
There's a difference. A racist you will almost never succeed in changing them until they experience positive racism themselves. That is they finally encounter the race they hate and actually end up better for it

Racism is a policy based on solely on your race.

Racist remarks are just remarks. But it does mean that everyone uttering racist remarks are racists.
This is the thing about humans, we compartmentalize stuff. Race is the most common factor. It's everywhere. You don't see someone saying guy A or B. Oh that Chinese man, that Malay man etc. It's a thing that inculcated in us from a young age, whatever country.

I have experienced all 3. But let me tell you Singapore isn't that bad. Racism is not overt.
Of course I've been a victim of subtle racism, heck even the Govt practises it. Why are HDB flats based on a race a ratio? Why Malays or so many years could not serve in the AF? Why promotions in the Civil service, how many minorities get to the top? Of course they do, but there's a limit and it evolves. It's subtle.

So when you got reporting racist remarks and the other guy going around making reports. Well that's your right. But as a minority I've experienced many things and as such I allow many things to be, so long it doesn't get out of hand or affect me.

The first 2, we must not tolerate. The 3rd let it slide once in a while. If you wanna take offense everything can be seen as offensive.

This **** thing, you should look at the bigger picture. It's message for the Govt. As I told someone here and many friends. In a way it's good, that's why I remain relatively silent on it. For years we Malays and Indians were suffering, all our lower paying jobs, what happened to them? Once the Govt opened the floodgates, all goes tot he Pinoys, the Ah Tiongs, Burmese and what have you. Our salaries depressed.

Eg in the 1990s, $5/h was common and by 2003 or so, it progressed to 7-8 bucks maybe more for jobs like waiters, servers and what have you. Then they opened the floodgates initially. Today its' still around 5 bucks an hour - over 20 years still stuck.

Vut what did the majority race do? They didn't complain much. Got lah but how many? Because it didn't affect them. But now with the **** treaty, who does it affect? The Chinese of course. The PMET jobs, mid-management and others who were holding these jobs before? The Chinese of course. Sure got Malays and Indians too but we were always a tiny fraction.

Only now the Chinese majority realise that their jobs are under threat. So now you see an outpouring. So I say look at the bigger picture.
I already knew back in 2003 I was actually talking to an Indian who migrated here. I said this is a vote winner. because who will you vote for?

But people were blind to it. Only know they awoken. So all this anti-**** thing look at the bigger picture. It's to send a message that our immigration policy is wrong.

So don't go mistake every racist comment as meaning the person is racist. The majority are not. How well do you get on with other races. I get on just fine. So do many of our generation. We have also been subjected to some subtle racism in our lives and even today it exists. It always will you cannot change human nature. The idea is that it's not so serious that it leaves with no other options.

By all means report any company or person who discriminates based on race. But are there not other jobs and other avenues still open and not that hard to find? If these don't have then that becomes a major issue.
But if it doesn't just get on with life.

As for the foreigners coming here, if I have to engage with them I of course will with all the courtesy that goes with it. In fact many are polite. But some who are yayaya papaya, these I don't tolerate and neither should anyone else IMO.

I know you are angry because I've always got the better of you and brushed you off. You wanna keep reporting by all means go ahead. It's free. But you're barking up the wrong tree IMO. I'm a reactionary not a revolutionary. I respond in kind to people who started it off. Anyway calling somebody dumb, if that were an offence, they'll be no end to it. How many people have called me dumb, so what? Wanna report them? for what? Better to reply there and then and let the matter rest.

I can so easily take offence to every single **** post or anti-Indian one. Rather I'm more concerned where it takes a sinister turn and encroaches into legal peril. If they had posted something that breaks a law, then that I have to react to.

That's what i advise you to consider. It should be a criminal thing. That carries weight. But don't take everything literally, in Law there must also be the 'ingredients' or crossing the boundary to make the charge.

Excessive reporting diminishes your reports. I dunno what the other guy is trying to prove. But it certainly isn't working. He's taking offense with every single thing. But it's not my job to teach him. It's entirely up to him.
So long as i follow the boundaries and stay within the Law that's all that matters as far as I'm concerned.
An EDMW ban is nothing compared to charge initiated by a DPP

Haha, gotcha!

The above statement suggests reports are not anonymous

If reports are not anonymous, then impartiality cannot be guaranteed

No, it's because he says or posts a lot of his complaints and threats to report, that we can assume he has been reporting incessantly.
He takes offence with every post that he deems inflammatory. If we all want then we too can find fault with a lot of posts on a host on subjects.
There's this old saying that holds true sometimes, Ignorance is Bliss........

But I do caution, threatening to report people to the Police or authorities that is skirting with a possible 506 offence. You want to report go ahead. don't go threatening people with it.

If i may give u a piece of advice, a lot of what u say make much sense and u sound well-educated and refined often with your post but the way you reacts, people may find you self assuming and what other may seem as exaggerated self importance.
You may. I have no issues with people commenting but cannot take a response contrary to theirs.
In this particular thread the 2 users have mentioned me specifically and thus I responded.
And if we actually put this discussion to a vote or to EDMW as a whole, I would win in landslide.......:ROFLMAO:

If you feel that you are right and have projected your posts across, there is no need to seek arbitrary votes and validation from others, and that includes trolls.

Anyway, just want to mention there are some parts when you mentioned about your view on stereotyping and how to receive constructive feedbacks effectively that i find it quite interesting and insightful just that i think some points are quite extreme and you should be more prone to humility than to conceit.

Well one can always PM or ask for further clarifications on my POV. Sometimes a post or typing a reply doesn't capture the essence of what's intended.
Take Lance for example, he sent me 1 long PM accusing me of double standards in a thread after I created 1 where I commented on the user reddvil0728
I complained because he deliberately involves himself in many threads here where people are making a complaint or appeal by baiting them further and taking the moderator's stand, where he has no authority to do so. He exacerbates the situation by assuming that he is akin to a mod.

But Mr Lance has missed the obvious flaw in his arguments. No one is saying you can comment or offer a point of view. What I am talking specifically is people who are appealing against their points and that user interjects, which is not helpful and does not require him to provide explanations for the infarction. It's for the Mods and 2 Admins to.

In this thread and the other on racism, the 2 users who created the threads are NOT appealing, they are giving their views on they perceive are supposed grievous breaches. Thye have already reported the posts and threads and demanding further actions. As both posts involve my own race and the other a direct reference to me, it's just like any other post where opinions can be given.

You have given your views here, even on me, that's perfectly okay. I'm not appealing against anything just stating an opinion. That's the difference, I rarely if ever go into a thread here where someone is appealing to the Mods and take the Mods side of things. I'm no Mod and should not make a judgment call against that user.
I can however support his appeal which I do occasionally do.

My angst if any is not against every single remark that is perceived as 'racist' by every different user. Each having their own tolerance level. Where in encroaches into the Law, that would perk my interest.
For example today itself I came across 2 threads, 1 courting fellow users to perpetuate a scam/cult and the other calling for the execution of every drug addict.
The former is tantalizingly close to breaking the Law and the other is just plain wrong (got more in the thread).
To me these are the kinds of threads that need locking, users need banning/infarcting than just the typically childish remarks many users here use to refer to the **** treaty.

But our moderation team is more interested in minor stuff that are reported than actively seeking to purge the forum of more serious matters that would or could possibly entail a criminal investigation.

Of course they always use that old chestnut, we only volunteers, we cannot check every single post.
Ok then why didn't they tell that to the POFMA office when they issued orders the last time?
Because that's not an excuse as they're very well aware of.

Holy paragraphs...so much over-explanation, and most of it on stuff that is not even relevant to this thread. Kumar, my PM has nothing to do with this thread. You could have PM'ed me a reply instead, but whatever floats your boat I guess...🄱
