Dreamcore vs Aftershock Desktop Computers

Anyone have experience with Dreamcore and Aftershock desktop custom builds? I’m planning on buying one, but I don’t know about the quality of their after sales service and the quality of their builds.

No please don’t tell me to go DIY, I am terrible at stuff like that. I’ll always do stuff like that and things will go wrong, even if I think i’ve Covered everything. I may decide to try in the future, but as a poor moneyless student at the moment my parents agreeing to buy me a gaming desktop of any specs I want is a heaven sent gift, I.e. it will only happen once in my lifetime. I just need some honest opinions from people with experience.

Total Damage was quoted at $2039


Let's try DIY a similar build using SLS Price List, for now, Cybermind

• Intel i5-8400 + ASUS Z370-G-Gaming-WiFi-AC - $608
• G.Skill RipJawsV 2400 C15 - $295
• 250GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD - $149
• 2TB HDD - $102
• ASUS STRIX GTX1070 8GB - $985
• 3x Thermaltake Ring RGB fans - $119
• Phanteks P300 - $99
• Phanteks LED Strip - $45
• Cryorig M9 - $39
• Seasonic Focus Plus 550W - $149

Total Damage: $2590...

Why so expensive to DIY? Mostly left Asus GPUs in stock and they are overpriced. Asus 1070 Strix used to be around $700, now its $985. LED stuff is expensive. RAM is extremely expensive... add up to be way overpriced. Bad time to DIY.

Seems like Dream Core PCs are a much cheaper alternative. Aftershock or DreamCore focus on proper gaming PCs, so you can go nothing wrong with either.

Do check if there is any back order or waiting time when ordering a new PC. Due to the shortage of GPUs, sometimes, can wait a few weeks.

Just do NOT go for those Asus/Acer or Dell Alienware "Gaming" desktop that has no proper balanced Hardware...

Edit: This is just an exterme example of having difficulties with getting well priced GPUs and parts at SLS right now.

Dream Core don't have to cut cost... They are able to get parts at near MSRP... If they get in bulk, the savings can be passed to you.

If SLS has a lot of GPU stocks at MSRP, i could DIY a similar build for about $1700. I've done it before when Zotac/Palit GTX 1070 were at $525, DDR 4 kits were $235... If add RGB stuff, might add up to about $1800... Lets say, Dream Core charge extra $200 for their service which is still well worth it...

But SLS aren't selling GTX 1070s at $500+ and you've no choice but to pay almost double for one...

I'm intending to get a new rig somewhere mid-Mar as well, was comparing between DreamCore and AfterShock and apparently DreamCore seems to give better deals (like wayyyyy better). LOL

I was thinking of just getting stuff off SLS straight but I heard everywhere is running low on 1080TI, would probably need to wait for a couple of weeks? AfterShock quoted me a 2-4weeks wait when I drop them an email the other day.

I contacted DynaCore the last weekend, was trying to check stock for Zotac & Galax and the staff told me there's not stock and no ETA. I was asked to pick between MSI or Gigabyte. (That was for 1080ti) not sure about 1070/1070TI tho...

i think aftershock and dreamcore pc lack variety/clarification. ie. they do not tell you what brand parts they use. if you have no preference on brand, then i suppose they are ok.
the only downside i didnt like is longgggg waiting time.
i ask aftershock, and they quote me like minimum 4 weeks.
means i need to pay 2k+ yet wait 4-6weeks for my pc. so sian.

i went to another PC builder, got it within 2-3 days. paid 50% deposit and the rest is cash on delivery. very helpful guy too. so what im trying to say is, aftershock and dreamcore are not the only 2 companies doing this. there are others who are worth a shot as well.

Maybe the PSU and chassis? Since we can't really choose the PSU model/brand when customizing the rig.

4 to 6 weeks is unacceptable considering its being assembled locally. Previously, it takes them about a week if not slightly longer to assemble and test out the laptops before passing it to the buyer.

Longer lead time most likely due to shortage of gpu. If so, may be better off DIY unless totally lack of knowledge?

my suggestion
1.go ask people here to recommend u all the part needed here.
2.then buy all the item from that particular shop as recommended from here such eg Technopain Pte ltd
3.ask the shop to install the hardware as well as software
4.bring home just fix everything then good to go
5.few $$ save can use for repair etc but rarely pc spoil so fast

the only worry TS having is the warranty covered between DIY and build in PC...he don't want to hands on...he scared so let the dreamcore or aftershock handle and replace the item
if anything wrong with the pc within 2yrs the shop covered and replaced the part that is spoil but if u DIY no cover must find people to repair
for me if u worry about repair.......people can recommend u shop and tech people specialise in pc repair too

I think the problem is that it's significantly more costly to do a DIY build, assuming the same specs. Also, the availability of some mid higher end GPU is a problem.

think need to know what brand of Gpu,psu watt and also what mobo they use
if they used almost similar as the one psycovirus compare with maybe worth it with warranty

That is quick tho, mind sharing where you get your rig from? I've checked with Aftershock and was told a 2-4 weeks wait, have not check with Dreamcore but im expecting roughly the same timing as well.

It was a fight between Dreamcore and Aftershock when I was looking to buy my rig back in Dec last year. In the end, I decided on Dreamcore. Why? Better service, easier communication, faster delivery, nice prices on Creative addons.
