I managed to squeeze all my lenses including the 500mm prime into the small 38l cabinet.=:p
Of cos have to remove the partitions and the long lens standing veritcally while the smaller lenses stack on top of each other. :s22:
So my advise is get a bigger capacity if budget and space allows. :)

not sure if Carrefour carries the DHC series but they do display the AD series. For those buying there, make use of the POSB Everyday card to earn the 5% rebate.

Went to Carrefour to take a look 2 days back and notice they do not carries Digi-cabi anymore, instead Akugi which is more ex...

So rush back to Funan and only John 3:16 about to close for the day so ordered a AD60N thru them...

Get a big one, one that fits more than your current equipment beause you might get more equipment and then you'd have to get another.

You're right MarineX,

Should have gotten the DHC series rather than AD series...

At least got a better piece of mind...

AD series has a higher inaccuracy percentage up to +6º in humidity measurement. Also AD series needs to have the humidity pre-set before putting in equipment. Eg: Set the dial within the cabinet, let the humidity settle, then adjust again until 45~55 is reached.

Hi EJB,

I just got an analog digi-cabi (AD series) for my D60 (couldn't find any DHC series), so the RH setting should be abt 44%-45% only as corrected in your sticky FAQ on purchasing a DSLR?

Will I still need to monitor it once the setting (44%-45%) is stabled?

Thanks

Do you guys throw in other accessories like external flash or batteries and memory cards to the dry cabinet?

Hope you don't find this question silly ... :o

no, cause' the zoom head is lubricated with oil and i do not want the oil to dry out in the dry cabinet.

the plastic will start to crack too, if place in the dry cabinet over extended period of time.

for me i thown in almost everything... 2 bodies, 7 lens, 2-3 filter, ext flash, batteries in battery boxes, memory card in bodies, a DC, Watchies, old Handphones and a few harddisks...
most of the eleci item should keep in dry place 40-60% but normally no one care...

all in a Digicabi 30L... yes... 7 lens, most of them with hood somemore...
Pentax lens are smallier in avg... haha

also not to worry about the % too much... within the safe range is alright...
for me i even thinking of not owning any dry cabinet at first... until got the chance to hoot the Digicabi 30L @ $50 only...
but is good to have a right place to store the item...

its so hard to tune to 40% - 50%

how do u all get it?

Hi Whyearth,

For the AD series, you got to fine tune it till you're in the range...

I took about 3 days adjusting the knob till I finally got it.

Three times a day, once before I go to bed and once before going to work and once coming home from work (average abt 8 hrs interval)

p.s. try not to keep opening the cabinet while tunning/ fine tunning.

tbh if u really shoot regularly (twice a month and 'sunning' ur lenses), a dry cabinet isn't that urgent.

compared to the price of gear it's a very very small %'age though (like a couple hundred bucks and you're set unless you got like a half dozen lenses).

3mths into this hobby and i still am using a transparent airtight 20L tupperware.. Haha! Bought a digital hygrometer for $3.50 on EvilBay, airtight tupperware from NTUC for $12 and once a month i buy silica gel for $4.. Bloody cheap set up. As i'm always shooting daily, even go shop must bring :p, the dry box is always between 40%-50%...

Oh! Not forgetting a couple of cheap salt shaker to fill my silica gel in for only 3 for $1.. LoL!

My friend who has been using such method just got fungus on both her lens n body on the 8 month. I have advised her long ago to buy a dry cabinet but she does not listen to me so now she has to pay price for it and spent even more to buy a dry cabinet, clean the sensor and get a new lens cos she does not want to waste $$ replacing the front element which Canon quoted her $160. :s13:

If you think $100+ is too expensive to pay for a dry cabinet, then when things does happen, do not be heart pain.

she doesn't use her camera that often or she doesn't check her dry box?

It's good to have a dry cabinet but with proper care and usage a dry box works as well

Seriously I didn't use dry box when I first started up, and a few of my lenses can't be used cud to the coating (lens element) being eaten by fungus!!

For serious photographers, one should consider getting a proper dry box. If on a low budget, just get an air tight Tupperware and buy silica gel and put inside. Get a hygrometer from Daiso or 100yen shop if you ever go to Japan. When the gel changes color, just buy new ones or sun them under hot sun.

And if your budget allows, get the digital ones, like EJB suggested the DHC series. Anyway AD series will do.

For price, DHC series are their most expensive range. I have a DHC60 and DHC120. The 120 costs SGD458 (bought 2 weeks back). My suggestion is that always buy twice the size you need. It is my shortsightedness to get the DHC60 a few years back, thinking that is is just enough. Since then I have been stacking stuffs until i got to be careful opening the door. I couldn't take it anymore so I got the DHC120. The boxes have a long 5 year warranty so you will have peace of mind for at least 5 years.

Someone asked why no one suggested Aipo. Go to clubsnap for answers and user experience.

Anyway, you can also put in other stuffs like your leather wear inside to prevent fungus growth
