They just need to get rid of the wole folks. The company should turn profit.
On the contrary, this cash infusion saves all their jods. Previously coys were using bad economy 2 get rid of their woke infestations.

Singapore KFC is by JCorp, Johor's Wealth Fund.

The local franchise owned by Saudis is McDonalds.

I will support saudis for their affordable $5 meals and MacDonald apps deals. They are doing more for low income household than the govt for cheap food

Singapore is involved in a game called Skull and Bones... but the game turn out to be rubbish.. dead upon release...

AI Overview

The Singapore government is involved with the video game Skull and Bones through its Economic Development Board (EDB), which provided a grant to Ubisoft Singapore to lead development of the title and encouraged the creation of an original IP. This funding was tied to conditions requiring the studio to hire and train local talent and release new intellectual properties, a deal that obligates Ubisoft Singapore to continue developing Skull and Bones despite its troubled development.

Government Funding and Conditions
  • Grant from the Economic Development Board (EDB):
In 2016, the EDB provided funding to Ubisoft Singapore to develop a "AAA" video game title.

  • Requirement for Original IP:
A key condition of the grant was that Ubisoft Singapore must release an original intellectual property (IP), which Skull and Bones became.

  • Job Creation and Training:
The subsidies also involved hiring and training local developers at the Ubisoft Singapore studio.
Ubisoft Singapore's Role
  • Lead Developer:
Ubisoft Singapore was responsible for developing Skull and Bones, a significant milestone for the gaming industry in Southeast Asia.

  • First Original Title:
The game represented the studio's first major original intellectual property, following its work on the Assassin's Creed series.
Implications of the Agreement
  • Obligation to Release:
The agreement with the Singapore government, particularly the requirement to launch an original IP, is cited as the reason Skull and Bones has not been canceled despite its long and difficult development cycle.

  • Government Support for the Game Industry:
The government's involvement demonstrates its efforts to bolster the domestic gaming industry by fostering the development of high-budget, "AAA" titles.
Lovely but 1 game does not mean anything in the whole scheme. It's not as if the Govt is like pumping in billions to draw gaming companies to come here, set up and hire etc and make games here like how it is in Japan.

They have Sega.

We have..... i dunno... Legend of Merlion or sth?

We could try to be a gaming hub if gov really invest in our people.
But I know P@P is very against arts, because arts liberate souls and thinking and this is not good for them.
They dowan people to think and realised how bad they been fcuked with.
So in the gaming industry, people will need a lot creativity to create good games, and that's why it won't happen here in SG.
I think not only that but the idea that gaming is bad is very prevalent even among today's Gen Z's parents, mostly the mummies side. Yes i am aware there's alot more acceptance and there's also alot more female streamers and gamers, even spilt over to the anime interest and cosplay segment but large and by large gaming/anime/cosplay is still something that's frown upon.

Will take prolly anther 2-3 gen before it's socially accepted fully.

They need to promote more indie developers... maybe some kind of grant lor.. It doesn't have to be AAA to be successful.. just look at Hollow Knight and SilkSong.

AI Overview

Yes, the Cat Quest game series is developed by The Gentlebros, a Singaporean indie game developer. Founded by three Singaporeans who were former employees of the Japanese company Koei Tecmo, The Gentlebros created the popular action RPG Cat Quest.

I actually know 1 of the 3 SG guys of Gentlebros.

He actually fly between Japan and Singapore alot.

I agree more promotion and support could be granted on a Govt > gaming industry but i think that takes a mental shift on the Govt's end. The current Govt is very hard on anything financial, literally almost throwing money at them and partly on medical as well.

But mostly everything else has taken a backseat and we all know it's mostly tied to their direct KPIs. But that's pulling the topic away too much.

Without the ground support and social acceptance it can be hard for a budding company to continue to grow, in any industry for that matter. I have a friend from Digipen, initially studied game development etc but when come out to work, there was almost none locally. Have to pivot to cyber security instead. Luckily it worked out for him and he's doing pretty good at that sector. But some of his cohort mates, not so lucky.
