My 3 month old baby got diagnosed with eczema. She has very dry flaking skin, and some red patches all over her (cheek, body, hands, legs). Doc prescribed steriod and moisturiser.
Can anyone advise? Will she outgrow it?
Thanks

becareful of using steroid creams for long term, especially for babies, as they are more susceptible to HPA axis damage due to higher surface area to body weight ratio.

Do find out more information about using topical steroids.

Need to find out the root triggers (diet/environment) and avoid them.

-from a fellow topical steroid addiction sufferer.

hi, soaking in seawater at the beach might help as it drys up n act as antiseptic. meanwhile those organic sea salt scrub can consider also. anyone using these method also?

Ive known many who have used epsom salts, dead sea salts in their baths and it has helped them in providing comfort. Can give it a try.

eczema died down for about a decade, now full force everywhere except my face <.<

besides putting topical steroids + moisturizers, i started seeing tcm also. but no report on results cos i just started.

in the meantime i used wet dressings too. those helped quite a bit. my 2 cents.

Wet dressing DIY or buy?

I also want to use wet dressing while i sleep, but i heard keeping anything wet over a long time harbours bacteria.

I'd never recommend wet dressing as it subjects your skin to 100% humidity. Once you remove, your skin dries out again and itches.

Need to be aware of occlusion effects if you use wet dressing together with topical creams. They get absorbed into the body at a higher rate.

Ah thank u

The only thing i need to control is itching. My skin is such, if never itch, no eczema

yep same... i take care of my skin now with preventive lifestyle methods - diet, get sun, exercise. helps alot in regulating my immune system, and hence the itch

I tried TCM during my withdrawal. If they prescribe some topical creams, do note that they contain topical steroids as well.

I think its helpful if you really "dun" or boil those herbs they give. But do not use those creams they prescribe.

Their general advice on avoiding inflammatory food also helps.

Just to share... I've tried TCM twice (am undergoing it 2nd time).

The first TCM used acupuncture for every session I went (I will go 3-4 times a week cos I go to the public free clinic, so 1 week of medication + consultation + acupuncture only cost $20+). Undergo treatment for about 1 year, skin was beautiful. Unfortunately, the TCM not there anymore so I didn't follow up and then slowly, my eczema came back...
Until recently, I went to another TCM. Currently undergoing treatment for 1 month+, not very obvious improvement but I can feel that my body is slowly getting better without the use of topical steroid... The doc also mention that my eczema became psoriasis due to the constant bacterial attack on my skin.. But he says that it can be cured but it will take some time. So now I am waiting for time to see the results... (the cost for every visit is about $200+ and i visit the doc every week, so I am trying to get well ASAP!)

I feel that TCM will definitely take longer to see results but I believe it helps! Just that the cost :(.....

For those who are allergic to cow milk/lactose intolerant, there is goat milk for you to try out and it does help to alleviate symptoms associated with eczema in some people.

UHT Goats Milk Singapore

Hay Dairies

I do need to point out that I am not affiliated to anyone of them as I only come across these two products. There may be other similar products out there. I am just highlighting an alternate choice & always check with your doctor before trying out.
