i told my wife i dont want to have another dog after my current one pass away. because the last one i cried whenever i think of him... even now i still feel sad if i think back.

Lol....... you will get used to it.....Really, I mean it. I experience it 3 times already.

Its sad but I believe they have gone to a better place. I take good care of them when they are alive. I gave them the best I could.

But just to let you know that I am living in pain every single day because of the way man abuse animals. I know and there is nothing I can do.

Nothing, absolutely nothing beats this pain and the feel of helplessness.....

I change my dog's name to Furball (not his actual name).

In Loving Memory of Furball
01 July 2003 - 05 March 2011

It’s destiny that my sis and bro saw you curling up in a fur ball with your cute eyes melting their hearts while in the pet shop 7 years ago. That fateful day turns out to be the most eventful in our family’s history as you are officially introduced into our family. And your name? Furball! Your adorable fur-ball and your big round eyes captivated all of us when you first enter our flat. You were barely 15cm long that time!

Your big cute round eyes never fail to melt our hearts; your pantomime facial expression never fails to amuse us. You brought us so much fun and laughter. Even a simple act of sleeping evokes laughter as we have never seen a dog that needs to perform the dig-spin-tuck act. Your cute begging-food expression, your sit-stand-turn-bark command, your smile when we praise you, your trademark Shih Tzu arrogance yet friendliness. It’s always a challenge yet a pleasure to teach you tricks. Treats are the only way to change your stubbornness to obedience-- and in turn joy and satisfaction. For the first few months, all of us were scared of lying down on the floor as you love to sniff, dig and chew our hair and clothes. There were countless times you ambushed behind me waiting to pounce onto my shorts when I am changing.

As days went by, even my mum, who initially strongly objected to having you in our house, relented and instead became the person who loved you the most. She bathed you, groomed you, fed you, and brought you down to play with your group of friends. She scolded you the most and occasionally spanked you, but you knew that she loved you the most. We always fear mum going for long holiday trips because you wouldn’t eat or sleep without her presence. Dad loves to bring you for evening strolls and enjoys tucking you in bed. Not to mention giving in to your demand for Fuji apples as your supper treats every night.

Nothing beats a cuddle from you when we come home everyday after a wretched day at work. You never complain whenever I confided things in you. You were such a good listener. In turn, you would always rush to get your favourite toy and play with me to cheer me up. The way you tilted your head and listened to me speak was so endearing and charming. You never fail to soothe and calm me down and bring me laughters. I love the way you lean down and let me rub both your ears. It was such an endearing act to see you roll on the floor on all fours and twitch on the floor enjoying the ear massage. It was your favourite massage. I am not afraid to admit you had been my bolster during my weekend afternoon naps as we snored together in bliss. Ah the good old lazy times.

Your cute looks have always been praised by professional groomers-- and you even managed to be a part-time model for a photo-shoot. Even Annie, the professional Shih tzu groomer, has a photo of you beside the cashier. And you also prove that you were not just a pretty face-- you can be a guard dog, albeit a friendly one. It's a great joy to see you blossom from a impressionable, clumsy ball of fur, curious and cute Shih Tzu pup to a proud dignified arrogant-looking yet friendly and charming Shih tzu dog over these years.

You had been our cherished family member for the past 7.5 years. Every single visitor to our place was always charmed by you. Friendly, adorable, cute, sweet, eager-to-please, etc. How many dogs are as well-cultured as you? You greeted stranger dogs with courtesy instead of barking, you will always welcome any visitors with your trademark wagging tail and do your spin-dance, you won’t run out even when the door is opened in front of you, and neighbors--even Malay neighbors, adore you and gave you tidbits. You were so affectionate and endearing that even the coldest neighbour will melt and walk over and pat your head. If we can go back time, we will still choose you regardless of your inherent health problems because we love you for what you are then and now.

You had always been faithfully at our side for all these years without complains. I am sure you would not want us to feel sad and down. We assure you we will be strong. This is not the moment for us to shed our tears but we should all be thankful that we were given the honour to have you in our family for the past seven years. Saying goodbye to you and be beside you til your very last breath is the toughest thing I have ever gone through my whole life. You will be missed and there will never be a replacement for you.

Thanks for always being at my side for these years.

Furball, you will forever be missed but I know in the right time, I will meet you again at the Rainbow Bridge.

Goodbye.

Haiz what to do......

The more one loves his dog, the more he dreads the inevitableday coming.

Meanwhile, hope current dog owners don't neglect their dogs. They are so wonderful to have as companions.

Can understand how you feel.

My mum actually cuddled my dog 10 min before euthanasia, and she told him she will never groom or bath another dog again.

Thankfully, my nephew was born that time and she spent all her time taking care of him and has since forgotten the pain and grief of losing our dog.
