"杠上“ didn't add 1 more tai. "三等” Ping hu they count as 1 tai instead of 4 tai.

Actually, i still a bit confused with the how to calculate payment, for example 3/6 is 30/60 cents, how come the payment is:

1 Tai: $ 1 $ 2
2 Tai: $ 2 $ 3
3 Tai: $ 3 $ 5
4 Tai: $ 5 $ 10
5 Tai: $ 10 $ 20

Where does the 30/60 cents come into the picture at all? Why call it 30/60 cents?

0.30
0.60
1.20
2.40
4.80
9.60

Rounded up/down for their own convenience.

Because 10 cent 20 cent tai too small and 1 dollar 2 dollars tai too big, that's why the older generation started this 30 cents 60 cents (round up/down) to strike a payout balance between the above mentioned payouts.

always have a big debate with my wife about "sacred discard" rule. SG mahjong have this rule, cannot win on same tile within the same turn, it is too unfriendly among friends, as you are "aiming" or targeting the losing player to pay.

i play International style (or MCR style), they allow to win on same discard. I think it valid to win on the same tile, because that tile can be the last tile in the game, and the excuse for not claiming the win previously is that there is still a chance for "self-draw" to earn more points.

so end of day, we agree that sacred discard rule enforced, wife decides on the rules. ...hahah

auto mj table is those every wk got few ppl play one, normally they are used in competitions

and you need to set the number of tiles it accept.

it dont accept any kind of tile, only magnetic tile

auto mj table comes with 2 set of tiles with diff color, so that one set of tiles wash, you press a button another set pops up

normally the tiles from china one no animal no flower

you can accept?

Think some of the automatic tables can pre-set the program to the style you want to play. Manufacturers would make it flexible so that it is sellable.

i also want to get a table, but wife say house no space to put!

I get where you are coming from. But to be fair, you have to factor in that other players may have the same tile that was discarded and may discard (towards late game) to play "safe".

So if the next player follow and discard but you game from him / her instead of the player before. It's not really fair also since you could have won when the 1st player threw your winning tile.

It's somewhat like a "trap"
