Yes got other siblings.
I managed to get PR do parents to join me. (Very hard to get). Siblings also got PR. But later they all decided they prefer to stay in Singapore. So they went back to Singapore and have given up their PR.
Singapore is better for Singaporeans
I know my sibling frenz migrate to Australia 20 yrs ago, their parent got $$$ own shipping company in sg and built their own landed house...:)

They still want migrate although their parent objection;)

Adults get to choose.
Anyway this is retirement thread. Not migration thread.
Talk more about retirement stuff.

No leh, when young I got no $$$ that why need work until now:(
I young also no money. In fact up till a few years ago I always still feel "not enough money".

Until I invested and have income engine portfolio.

Is psychological.

If you investment is all growth no monthly income one you always feel like no money coming from it. No matter how big it is. Cos no one likes to sell their investment doing well.

Very Good to retire in Singapore
1. Good medical facilities
2. Lots of good and affordable (relative) food at hawker centres
3. Easy base to go for short haul or long haul holidays
4. City living- easy for retirees to be in easy reach / good transportation network
5. Very safe ( relative) and familiarity of surroundings

That is why a lot of wealthy folks are coming to Singapore as a base for residence
Totally agreed

I have plans to relocate to thailand after i retire too..

right now exploring visa options.
i think OA is my only viable option though or just do short visits of close to 30 days, then back in SG for one month or so, then repeat, but this will incur repeated airfare cost and make accommodation complicated

not sure if i will rent out my hdb, as i hate to imagine the mess that will be left behind by tenants

I think BKK is only good for short visit and not for long stays unless one lives in the suburbs.. bangna, bangwa, nonthaburi etc. basically away from the tourist areas. cheaper, less busy, less traffic, more local...

For now, I have shortlisted chiang mai, udon thani or khon kaen.
Cost of living in bkk has risen. No longer cheap. Udon Thani is nice. My thai friend reside there. Chiangmai will have yearly haze.

it's a backup plan in case COL in thailand gets out of control.

in central thailand, the options are udon thani, khon kaen or korat as these places are equipped with good class hospitals (khon kaen esp.. it's sort of the medical centre for that part of thailand)

these cities do not suffer as much the inflation we see in recent years hitting BKK and even CNX. These cities are not backwards.. i'd equate them to be like penang, JB level.

the drawback is having to transit in BKK or DMK each time you want to rush back to SG

another place to consider is huahin, a possibility.

I struck off these places for the following reasons:
CNX - smoke season (Feb to May), somewhat getting expensive thanks to digital nomads, koreans, prc and taiwanese.
BKK - unless living in outer suburbs, the crazy amount of traffic and people makes living there like no diff from singapore, and it's getting really expensive (think living long term and not as a 1-week tourist)
Huahin is nice. Been going there when I'm in bkk
