From my most recent experience (last week)

Those want to use e gate can do so but you have to enter the lane for Thai passport not for Foreign passport.

When you walk the lane for Thai passport, you will see a row of e gate but its meant for them. Look to the extreme right where you will see the sign saying For Singapore and Hong Kong.

Scan your passport and the screen will show you 2 options

1. You have visa
2. You need visa for staying 60 days etc (something along this line)

Tap option 2 and the first gate will open for you.

Enter and take photo. When its done, it will issue you the receipt - Proof of entry which you need to keep. and the 2nd gate will open for you to exit.

Yes, the staffs at the front doing the segregation will check for the Thai stamp. If you have one then eGate shouldn't be an issue at BKK on arrival.
Basically like our SG ones to register your profile before being able to utilise TH eGates.

Departure also eGates mainly, only that few counters for manual like SG if you want the stamp. :s13:

Refer to my past sharing.
Okay, verified that there's eGate for Singaporeans and HongKongers only too.
Once reach immigration area, to the left for foreigners and Thais on the right, need to head right where there's eGates for Thais.
If there's staff/personnel there, need to show your SG passport/insist to use eGate.
Though was asked if have visited previously, cause if its first visit, will require to head to chop stamp and verify before being able to use the eGates for subsequent visits.

Proceed straight and head to the right after the manual counters for Thais, is where the eGates for Singaporeans and HongKongers are at.
Only 2 lanes available for usage. Did not see anyone after to verify and chop stamp too unlike what was shared on AroiMakMak article though.
Extreme right after eGates section are for priority/assistance lanes (handicap/family with young kids etc.)

Funny. The officer stopped me before even when I said I am Singaporean, wanting to use egate.
You will need to show the page where there's a physical stamp. That's the prerequisite apart from having a SG passport.
I got stopped occasionally too for them to verify, and eGates seems to be more utilised by SGreans from what I observed whenever I head to BKK.
