That is the part I don't understand, for 5G it is clear, but for 4G Simba has plenty of spectrum, 60MHz, which is more than M1's 45MHz, and approaches Starhub's 70MHz & Singtel's 75MHz.

Why would Simba's 4G be significantly slower ?
Uplink at capacity ? But some users didn't have issue which would indicate it is a location based issue.
Simba may be given enough 4G spectrum but deploying enough cell towers are also important, I think there are generally more users per cell tower compared to the big 3 telcos.

Eight really need to be on top of this asap!
Involve the IMDA.

this is so fubarr

Yes it’s really disappointing porting experience.

I think we are just real unlucky this happened. It seems like most of you have no issues and is enjoying their plans.

Till date after 5 days of no service after porting. Let’s see how long more until they can resolve this. Got a simba card to tied this period… we are just laughing at ourselves now, being penny wise pound foolish..

What is the operating hour of the pick up point now? I never see it in their website. I remember last time they did indicate it.

The sim pick up point location. Is it mobile shop? the one at neighbourhood area (Tampines or Tiong Bahru)
Actually want to use the mail option. But worry it will be lost. Haha
based on their location address, yes, some of them are mobile phone shop, e.g Tiong Bahru one.

I suggest don't get mail, find one that is near your home and go pick it up during retail hours

Noticed that quite a few don't recommend mail, is it due to the risk of lost mail ?
Is the risk high ?

Lost is one reason.

The other reason is you don't know how slow is this snail mail. You might miss your billing cycle.

Say your current telco billing cycle is 17th to 16th of the month, you applied on the 13th, you received your SIM on the 16th, you immediately activate it on 16th and porting begins on the same day.

Your current telco might already deducted your next month charges on 16th for next month 17th to 16th. So in this way, you already lost one month charges just because of the late receiving of the SIM.

Who knows, if you applied 13th, you received on 18th, you have already paid for the next month.

If the online bad reviews continues, if i am eight, i will close down Lucky Plaza and move the service centre to Orchard Central, shops near Simba service centre. So my bad reviews can be "removed".
I believe they just engaged a retailer to manage for them, not their own shop nor staff (anymore).

What! You also have SIMBA line and eight line?
Big biz… how many lines do you have? 😱

Not troublesome meh to bring out so many phones?
2 phones per person is very normal these days, if you noticed in MRT crowd. Some even 3. With eSIM one can have many lines in one phone.

Wait till you see those chasing Pokémon, need food tray to hold all.

Anyone tired calling from JB to a sg number. Seems like calls are barred?
Just tried calling my ST line. Can hear calling tone but phone 1 feet away refused to ring. Means what?

Anyway, one night in JB already 1GB from $0 plan nearly gone. No wonder 8 reminded me yesterday that I could upgrade anytime. :s13:

Oh, once again let me remind newbies not to be lazy by simply popping into any retailer and only approach Ubi when things are messed up. They aren't magicians.

I'm not related to 8 nor Ubi. Never met 8 and only been to Ubi once to switch SIM type. Lucky Plaza is like my neighbor but I've not gone there.

G'day 🦘

I know this is an 8 territory!

However, just for a comparison. I have one 8 and the other Maxx.

Same spot at one of my regular coffeshops around Paya Lebar / Geylang East area.

Eight = 40.6 / 16.5. (StarHub to StarHub).
Maxx = 114.0 / 23.9. (Maxx to M1).

Therefore, I'm deciding between $7.90 and $8.00 in which the choice is a clear cut as far as local data speed is concerned.

I've both, and Simba. So guess I'm good for local and travel.
