8 auto connected to UMobile once I got in via 2nd Link. Though personal preference is Maxis, I left it alone and connection was smooth both days. 👍

BTW, UMobile is a MVNO or telco? 🤔
it looks like MNO https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U_Mobile

U Mobile Sdn. Bhd. (223969-U) is a Malaysian mobile telecommunications service provider and was founded in 1998 as MiTV Networks Sdn Bhd. U Mobile is a wholly owned subsidiary of U Television Sdn Bhd, which was formerly known as U Telecom Media Holdings Sdn Bhd and MiTV Corporation Sdn Bhd.

The company utilises the 018 and 011 prefix allocated to the organisation by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), although with the implementation of mobile number portability mandated by the Malaysian government this does not apply to subscribers who switched from their old mobile service provider over to U Mobile.[1]

based on their location address, yes, some of them are mobile phone shop, e.g Tiong Bahru one.

I suggest don't get mail, find one that is near your home and go pick it up during retail hours
Ok. I just pick up at their Ubi branch during lunch time. No queue, very fast.
Not sure if they will port in tonight or next week.

So the only way to manage the account is through OTP? cannot login via email and password one right? because all of my family mobile plan is under my name.

Most likely tonight. Tomorrow morning just change the sim.

Right, because need OTP mean have to request one by one. Hopefully no need to keep intervene the account, otherwise troublesome.

I quite like giga or vivifi, can use email to login.

Hi,

1. is UMobile the designated Malaysia provider for 8 Telecoms? or we can manually select if need a better network?

2. There is no contract lock in period, correct?

3, If need to terminate, can we sign up with another telco and have them port over? (don't seems to have this option in the FAQ)

Most probably tonight, then complete tomorrow.

Only tablet plan log in with email. Don't know about tourist plan.

They're still working hard on improving processes.

yah I think their backend IT probably quite primitive also, since they keep sending me WhatsApp about the top up $8 get free $8 credit promo. Coz it seems they have no customer relationship management system to track who has claimed the free $8 credit.

1. Refer to their roaming partner list. It is in their FAQ.
2. 30 days period.
3. u apply for termination, u cannot port out. Yes, u r right, sign with another telco, if u love the number from eight, and port over.
