Just subscribed to eight less than a month ago.

Went to North Sulawesi. HP showed 4G, but... wonderfully, no data, couldn't send, couldn't receive.

Tried to call own no and, wonderfully, no incoming, no outgoing calls.

Totally unreliable. Huge mistake to switch to them. Definitely switching away to other telco immediately.

Any latest review on Maxx and Heyo?

Was outside with 2 phones yesterday, one had a Singtel line and the other an Eight and my brand new Simba lines.

Decided to try calling to see if my Simba line could make calls (coz it's something many have said cannot work initially). Lo and behold, couldn't call. Thought it's the Simba line problem, so used the ST to call back. Nada.

So used the Eight line to call the ST line. Nothing either.

Restarted the phone with the ST line. Tried again, and all worked.

Maybe I should get rid of the ST line afterall.... Oh wait...

Yes. It does change the billing cycle, last month I let my line lapse over the month. And renew again 15 days later.

i.e billing date 28 Nov to 29 Dec 2024
Renewed on 14 Jan 2025, Bill cycle started 14 Jan and end 13 Feb 2025

too many factors to allow generalisation and drawing conclusions based on others' situation. eg, depends on how well "isolated" is your basement carpark is, band that phone is connected to and the base station location, and probably the phone too (antenna, RF performance).

by isolated, means no openings to the sky. mine has regular vents, so signal gets thru, just a matter of how far from the vent - your carpark may be different and hence different results).

Tested on Simba, eight, MR 4G (aka m1), singtel (hi-card). In the basement all connected on B8 (900MHz), 4G

due to placement of towers, for signal and speed in the basement carpark, Simba and eight get best reception, singtel halfway, MR/m1 the worst (situation changes when above ground, and certainly will be different from yours, unless you stay in same place as me )

only you can determine which has the best for you. suggest you try them out for the minimum stay. MVNO is cheap, no contract, at worst pay for 2 months. if good, keep/port in. If no good, cut.

I have no internet (yes the apn is correct and my phone shows 4G connected on their partner network in Malaysia) and I cannot make or receive calls. Weirdly, I can receive SMS. Support is basically non existent if you are out of Singapore and hence looking to port out already! Has anybody done this? Was it smooth?

maybe your phone not supported by the telco.
which telco used? maybe can check if phone model is on telco's supported list.

if want good support, better to stick to MNO. MVNO is like that, it's cheaper for a reason.

Thinking of porting in to Eight. Seems receiving incoming calls when roaming in MY is no problem. Anyone know if I can receive calls from SG whilst roaming in Indonesia?

This post suggests you can receive but elsewhere someone says that you can't.

The roaming partners PDF from Eight says MY has VOLTE calls, but Indonesia doesn't. Means no calls at all? Or can make non-VOLTE calls?

Yeah, I am on the supported devices list. And I very much agree that in general you should "get what you pay for"... However that was in the past. Service (and support) these days everywhere is rubbish and it doesn't really matter if we are talking telcos or banks or lawyers. What is better these days is our freedom of choice to opt out and move, and with the "race to zero" in the Singapore mobile market hotting up we are going to see connectivity literally given away, very soon... The differentiator will be service, but price will be the same. Effectively zero.

Anyone encountered problem receive sms after change from physical sim to esim? I'm using iphone 14.
Incoming call no problem, only sms cannot send and receive.
Help is appreciated

my guess (not tested roaming in Indonesia yet) is if no VoLTE roaming -==> no voice calls in/out.
probably also no non-VoLTE calls either (more expensive so unlikely eight will pay for this and give us for free)

me going to JKT in Apr, so will test it out -- prepared for no roaming calls, but not a big deal.

Optimistic (hopeful) case: maybe it works but PDF not updated.
