Login to eight via your temp number and check the porting status.

Ah ok thanks for this. The status is still “in progress”. But I can still use this Eight SIM card for MY roaming even if say my original number isn’t port over yet right

just checking, website says the 228GB for [sg-my] is for non data sim-only customers.

means what ah? lol

sim only contract with no data included? does that even make sense? so my $8 plan's 228GB covers MY anot? or is it under the APAC roaming?
$8 covers
228GB Data (SG – MY)
10GB APAC Roaming
2GB Intl Roaming
588 Mins Local Talktime
288 Mins IDD Talktime (Exclude Myanmar)
88 Mins IDD Talktime (Myanmar)
88 Local SMS

Tried the MY roaming for the first time today. It was very seamless and I’m impressed. The network just auto changed to MY MAXIS when I am nearing the JB customs :)
Hmm did the porting already took place or still pending ?

Looking at the information provided on Eight website..
Do those units mention in "Retailers" able to provide SIM card collection nowadays or
we must go to those units mentioned in the "SIM pick up points" tab
https://www.eight.com.sg/where-to-buy
If you haven’t signed up yet and want a physical SIM card then you can go to any Eight retailer, sign up there, and get a SIM card on the spot.

If you sign up online and want to pick up a physical SIM card then you need to visit one of Eight’s service centres or SIM card pickup locations. (Or you can have the SIM card mailed to you.)

If you want to sign up and get an eSIM then you can do everything online.

Dunno why i can’t even see your post. Anyway anyone know hongkong rate after bundled data finished?
Wierd.

Copy and paste.

All in SGD, cost are for 1 GB

Zone1 APAC - 3.88
Intl Roaming (Zone2 Intl), this should be the normal international roaming in the PDF - 3.88
Intl roaming (ZoneB) - 8.88
Intl roaming (ZoneC) - 18.88
Intl roaming (ZoneD) - 28.88
https://www.eight.com.sg/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/eight-Roaming-Destinations-270125-v4.pdf

Hong kong is zoneless so should be 3.88

I’m currently Indonesia and Eight mobile does not allow me to call out or receive call. I saw the roaming list it mention that there is no VOLTE. Tried to disable VOLTE but still not working. Anyone knows how to fix this? Meaningless if I’m not contactable in countries that don’t support VOLTE

can use apps like WhatsApp to call?
(i know it won't work with banks, govt/official agencies)

that's where telcos with VOIP apps are useful (eg Simba, MR). they work even on data/roaming connection from other companies. I'm not promoting them, just giving an alternative.
(Or sign up with VoIP company to have a "roaming" VoIP number)
unconditionally forward your eight number to whichever VoIP number you subscribe to, and can receive calls anywhere you have a data connection.

if the above are not an acceptable solution, then no choice, have to port out.

No, but for roaming, they do have
- 288 Volte incoming Minutes,
- 288 Volte outgoing Mins to home country (Singapore),
- 288 Volte outgoing Mins to local country
(the country that you roam)

I got this info from emailing their customer service (who were d*** bloo** sarcastic)

SMS for roaming was not mentioned, sadly.
