Was riding along Punggol-bound Circle Line this evening when I noticed rather poor connection before Caldecott station. Thought it's strange since on previous frequent rides, Eight wasn't that bad.

When I thought of switching to Simba (I like this combo), I realized I'd been using a different phone, and the data's from my old ST line while Eight was set to Calls only.

I am on Giga, the only thing I don't like about it is, there is no voice roaming and the roaming plans for China sucks. Thats a no-no in case of emergency.

Did some research, I think 8 offers the best plan/reception. Only downside is the 4G I need to live with.

That was my experience, also ported from GIGA.

Did it online, and opted for delivery.
Though if i weren't that lazy, i would have went to the physical shop to collect the sim card instead.

no diff ba.
u go there... they will ask u to register online and self collect there.
if by post... about 3 working days. got 1 report he never receive the sim card tho.

there some reports on slow network in some mrt.

most that have reception problems local or overseas are iphone users, so if you using iphone must take note

if you fast internet with 5G, than you have to look at singtel's mvnos.

Vivifi, zero1, gomo, zym. They had offerings below $10 and some below $8

SIMBA starts at $10 per 30 days ($5 per 30 days for seniors) with plans that are structured much like Eight’s (or vice versa) such as international roaming privileges. Sometimes there are promotions to reduce the price. SIMBA is a MNO (not MVNO) with both 4G and 5G, and your network prioritization will be standard, not below the “main” subscriber pool’s. Both physical SIMs and eSIMs are available, and they offer a voice calling app.

Your phone should support bands 1, 8, 38, and 40 to work best with SIMBA. Band 8 is the most important for in-building coverage.

As always YMMV depending on your location(s) and usage patterns. Fortunately $10 (or $5) isn’t an expensive test.

Or you might find M1 Maxx works better for you. Maxx is $7.90 per 30 days (first 12 cycles, port in). Operates over M1’s 4G network which is still fairly reasonable, although you’re likely to be prioritized below M1’s main subscriber pool (for those on 4G). M1 is also a MNO, and Maxx is M1’s answer to StarHub’s Eight (or vice versa).

I have said many times over and over again. It's 5G! Many of us have been using more over a year. I'm tired of explaining again and again. , "free 90days 5G". If you don't believe, than stay on eight

Lakeside MRT, tested at ~7.05am so is consistent
Eight 4G: less than 1Mbps, cannot even load webpage, whatsapp is slow to send message.
ZYM 4G: 13Mbps down, 46Mbps up. Decent, good enough for me.
ZYM 5G: 692Mbps down, 105Mbps up. Very fast.

Jurong East MRT
Eight 4G: forget about it, cannot even do speedtest.
ZYM 4G: 1.35Mbps down, 15Mbps up.
ZYM 5G: 41 Mbps down and up.

My condo B1 carpark
Eight 4G: always cannot get signal / very slow data.
ZYM 4G: 25Mbps down, 10Mbps up.
Didnt test 5G in carpark

At home, tested in common toilet
Eight 4G: 1-5Mbps down and up
Zym 4G: 16Mbps down, 20 Mbps up.
ZYM 5G: 209Mbps down, 32Mbps up.

maybe you need him to screenshot his phone (zym 5G) and start date for zym?

First 90 days are 5G SA connections, very fast (300+ mbps) and smooth like butter .

Day 91 onwards, 5G NSA connections, 100+ mbps, still faster, better than most 4G.
