will 8 offering 5G soon since Maxx has started 5G svc today....????
They might be forced too soon. But might give it as a add-on VAS. But say if the 5G Vas is $2/mth, will people top up abit for 5G?

But then, if starhub really does give eight users 5G, it will eat into giga market. Starhub segmented it's market to 4G and 5G. Giga focuses on 5G, while eight on 4G. Unless eight's 5G is 5G NSA only

A couple things to try:
  • If you have 5G enabled, try disabling it (forcing your phone onto 4G). Or vice versa.
  • Try changing networks. For example, if you're currently roaming on Maxis, try U Mobile or DigiCelcom to see if you get any different results.

Eight can send overseas sms? I trying to send one to verify my kakao number but it always fails.

Answering my own question.

No option to send SMS (from SG) to an overseas number on eight (even if you wanted to pay for it).
There was no way to verify my Kakao number and they do not offer any other options (I asked multiple times).

It's available as a paid option if you use ST (including MVNO) and Simba. (I didn't check M1).

Edited the phrasing for clarification.

Where did you get this info for Simba ?
Their FAQ say not possible :

Those that has eight plus other mvno sim, how are the rest of the speed? I felt recently the speed is a bit sucky.

Sometimes loading of reddit page is slow etc

Able to reach 75mbps with eight telecom outdoors.

Not great speed but very much functional. Besides, the biggest selling point for eight is now their roaming data which is one of the most generous in the market.

For perspective, Google recommends having a link capable of a sustained 5 Mb/s to view 1080p YouTube videos. 75 v. 5 is an excellent ratio. And you’re not required to chew up data allotments at 1080p. Viewing at 720p consumes about half as much data.
Besides, the biggest selling point for eight is now their roaming data which is one of the most generous in the market.
Another big selling point is offering $8 and $5 (for seniors) (per 30 days) plans. Pricing matters for a lot of people.
