For Eight, are there any charges for termination within 30 days of activation? (I understand Simba charges $30).

I wonder if I can just let it lapse...

So you actually don't want the line at all, less than 30 days after activation?

What if... (I've not tried myself)...
- remove any trace of credit card whatsoever from the app so there's nowhere they can charge your 2nd month's payment
- send them an email to say you don't want the line anymore, to terminate after the 1st month, since it's already paid for.
- put the SIM card away.

Is eight prepaid or postpaid?

Does being prepaid hard to port out to other MVNOs and main telcos?

Yes. Just bear in mind that prepaid to postpaid is a one-way trip. You can’t go back to prepaid and keep the same number. SIMBA offers similar plans on a prepaid basis if you want to keep the line as prepaid.
Ok thanks bro.

I had checked simba prepaid $10 one also.

not very worth it. Eight $8 beats it for every bundled.
Eight $8 plan is the best, even better than vivifi $7.70 one.

my friend from sinktel prepaid had just submitted his port in request to eight $8 plan and he chose eSIM so immediately activation. Now waiting for porting to be processed. Besides, just want to confirm it port in requires to reply anything in sms to confirm port out or once submit port out request at the new telco registration, it will process straightaway?

After this month I will port my vivifi to eight also.

So may I confirm that for $8 388gb plan:

1) can I use the 388gb monthly in bolehland without additional charge?

2) does this plan come with free calls and sms?

3) if yes for 2),can I use the free calls mins and sms in bolehald for free as well? Or can I use the free calls and sms in other APAC countries too?

4) besides, there is 10gb data roaming in APAC rite?so meaning I can use the 10gb in Thailand or Taiwan rite?

There is 3 buckets of free call :
  • 588 Mins Local Talktime
  • 288 IDD Mins (Excl. Myanmar)
  • 88 IDD Mins (Myanmar)
The first one not only applies to local calls, but also roaming calls back to Singapore.
Roaming calls to local numbers and other countries is also supported, but not sure using 1st or 2nd bucket.
Inbound roaming call always included, but not sure if charged under free incoming call or one of these bucket.
Basically if you are not making a lot of phone calls, you should be covered.

Inbound SMS when roaming also supported FOC, outbound SMS while roaming is NOT.

In the roaming list, most of countries don't support VOLTE calls. Does it mean I could not receive call in these countries?

ic. thanks for clarification, becos i also read the faq it stated that when roaming, making calls can be free becos can be deducted from bundled free talktime.

like that eight is really impressive for the package they offered.

but today my friend who just switched to eight, in jaybee, it connected to maxis but shows edge only.
while i was with him, my vivifi is connected maxis (5G), how come ah??

Vivifi is under ST, eight is under sh. Diff Telco have their preference of overseas partners. That's explains

IMO this is normal.

Went a few times to JB, initially will also show E first then will take some time to "warm" up.
Anyway, get your friend to reduce to 4G only as it may also help

no. the partners are the same.
ST is maxis, SH also maxis.
but IMHO, ST on maxis gives better experience than SH on maxis.

lately i also noticed right after crossing, i get no network for a while like for 15 mins. my device doesn’t support 2G so it can’t fallback. i suspected my device is faulty but now that you guys reported it too, then it could be eight’s problem?

i can ask him to monitor for the next few days and try ur trick. But by rite 5G on maxis (should be usable for roaming). if need to force to use 4G to work or worst case it continues to show EDGE, then something is wrong with eight (roaming).

as mentioned, my vivifi (4G - $7.70) which i had used for quite long already, i can use the free data roaming given in bolehland no issue. no matter it was previously 2GB time or now they gave me a total of 600GB + 100GB roaming data to use in bolehland since april 2025 which these data can be used until April 2026.

I had no issue to use these data in jaybee or any other part of bolehland. I can always connect to Maxis 5G/4G all the time, blind spot is super super minimum and it is seamless i never need to do special setting or whatever, my iphone i use 5G on setting which it will connect to 5G whenever available.

and based on the testing, I am with my friend on eight ($8.80 plan) in the same car, same location, i can connect to maxis 5G while his showed EDGE (even turn off the phone and turn on again also same, or even tweek any settings also same). I suspect it is eight's issue. both roaming partners for ST and SH are Maxis (4G/5G) anyway if u check the faq on eight also indicated it.

Yesterday when my friend subscribed to eight i find the plan of $8 is really superb, which 388GB monthly can be shared in both bolehland and lion city and 10GB to APAC countries. Can even make roaming calls or IDD calls to most APAC countries for free which is insane. However, if the roaming experience is so bad, i would stick to vivifi at least hassle free.

but IMHO, ST on maxis gives better experience than SH on maxis.

with u experienced similar situation, then i believe it is eight specific prob. I am not sure how was it previously becos i never use eight before. only come to know the plan is so good, but if the roaming experience continues to be like this, it is useless.
