Just wondering how you get the "2.25X more" number?

Nominal it is one of the following:
14.8/8 = 1.75
14.8/11.8 = 1.25

But I understand the users here are very good at finding lobangs and can get the S$8 plan at lower price including the top-up offer to make it S$4 per month.

Not sure what is the best price for the S$11.8, S$14.8 and S$18 plan (without using methods like Shopee Coins).
My bad, I was comparing $8 with $18. 1.75x is a little more palatable.

IMHO.
I hope everyone moves to 5G, I can get more of the 4G. Huat ah !

For Eight it is probably tough since many users get the S$8 plan below the nominal S$8 price. For example, quite some users get it at S$4 effective price (one to one top-up offer).

Even without considering the discounted price, it is also difficult to justify the jump from S$8 to S$14.8 if the S$8 plan is still usable/bearable.

And even if Eight S$8 plan is not usable for some users, they may choose to port out to plans like M1 Maxx S$10 5G plan or SingTel MVNO 4G plans below S$10, or even port out to the SingTel hi! 4G monthly plan at S$10.

This is the challenge StarHub mentioned in the FY25 Q3 Financial Report. The value plans of the mobile market are at about S$10/S$12 per month now.

Intense competition continues

Mobile:
o Price competition remains intense
o Value players at S$10/12 mth, Senior offers at S$5/6 mth, free month promo offers

Broadband:
o Price competition still growing
o Value players at S$30 mth, driving whole market to this point
o Content bundles play a role.

Love it, hope this mvno is good
Ya, porting from starhub managed mvno to another starhub managed mvno quite fast

Price wise, it might be better but just keep your expectation low for the time being

Question about calls and SMS while roaming, just to confirm...

From their FAQ (https://www.eight.com.sg/faq-network-roaming-and-idd), they say:

Does roaming covers calls and SMS?

Absolutely! Our plans include 288 minutes of roaming calls—whether you’re calling back to Singapore or making local calls in the country you’re visiting.
  • To ensure smooth calling, check the “Network Operator (VoLTE Calls)” column in our roaming guide.
  • For example: In Malaysia, connect to MAXIS/UMOBILE/CELCOM to enjoy VoLTE calls and stay in touch with home.
  • For SMS, there will be no issues to receive OTP, but our plans do not include outgoing international SMS at the moment.
So that means when I am overseas, and on VoLTE, and I call back to Singapore, it just takes from the bucket of 288 minutes? I assume it's 288 minutes no matter which plan you have or is it based on the IDD Talktime bucket that comes with your plan?

What if I'm overseas and on VoLTE, and receive an incoming call from Singapore? Extra charges or similar to above as well?

And I guess this is only for VoLTE? Does eight have VoWiFi?

Lastly, for the SMS, it looks like receiving SMS while roaming is free and their plans don't include international SMS, but could I buy a package to send international SMS?

To change your eight.com.sg plan, log in to your account and go to the "Recharge" or "Change Plan" section, or visit an eight retailer. Upgrades are immediate, while downgrades take effect at the next renewal cycle.

Uses the local call bucket available.

Free incoming, even when roaming.

Eight has VoWifi, but just like M1 & ST MVNO, does not work when roaming due to using foreign IP address.
Simba is the only exception, but only works on Android phones.

Not supported afaik.
