50% off : 1 for 1 top up to our Eight wallet account balance (for all top up methods (???) - offered by Eight)

5% off : The discount when you either recharge immediately or top up to our Eight wallet account balance (via Shopee digital purchase - offered by Shopee)

So should we whack NOW using Shopee digital purchase (before more restrictions are imposed by Shopee regarding purchase payment via Shopee coins - will they restrict further so soon ??? ) or can we afford to wait for the next IT show / 1 for 1 top up promotion offered by Eight to enjoy 50% + 5% = 55% discount then ? Based on all your past experience / foresight / pattern with both Shopee & Eight ?
Oh I didn't know can use shopee during 50% promo! Never use shopee to top up after they stopped allowing voucher on normal seller listing

Yes, have got the 1 for 1 offer on top-up via Shopee before (offset the actual amount with some Shopee coins as opposed to paying the full top-up amount at the Eight service centres / IT Fairs Eight booth). Those were the days (of both Shopee voucher + Shopee coins via Shopee merchants --> Only Shopee coins via Shopee merchants --> Full Shopee coins offset via Shopee own listing allowed (if you have the full number of Shopee coins available) as opposed to Shopee merchants --> Restrictions with Shoppe coins usage on Shopee own listing now imposed) ???

1-for-1 promo is quite strict in the last event for both Simba and Eight, only available at the roadshow. Though some Service Centres and authorized dealers said they were included, it could be a purchase at your own risk (unless someone can confirm they did that with Shopee sellers in the last event). So the likelihood of 1-for-1 +5% is slim, however 3 mths free port-in offer and 1-for-1 has a higher chance to happen concurrently again.
P.S-Just saw your above msg, so you manage to grab that in the last event. Since you mentioned Shopee may impose the restriction so likely it may not be as lucky as previously?

I tend to think one for one top-up offer is unlikely to happen again since Starhub CEO's priority is to raise the ARPU.

The removal of the eight S$8 and S$10.8 plan for the new users clearly shows this direction.

Removing the legacy S$10 Starhub Prepaid S 5G plan and replaced it with S$12 4G plan is yet one more indicator.

Increasing the price of the Starhub 5G Lite plan from S$22 to S$25 and now S$28 is another one. Moreover this plan can no longer enjoy 20% OFF Passion Card offer.

On the Fibre Broadband side, the recent increase of the price of digital voice from S$2.14 to S$5 is yet another indicator. They have downgraded the free bundled router for Starhub 5Gbps plan from HB710 to HB615. Moreover, they raised the Starhub Shop cash and carry price of HB710 from S$192 to S$240.

We shall see though, bear in mind it depends on the cards of the competitors too. SH (in fact all local telcos) is quite helpless despite its desire to improve the profit margin. Imagine if say, Simba decides to keep rolling out 1-for-1 promo, it will mess up SH, M1 and ST plans of trying to increase their price plans, they cant even manage to retain existing price plans but to keep up with periodical matching promo. The only possible solution is a consolidation, then that may be the end of the price war, also the end of our honey moon.

It was great during the 1 for 1 + SAP 25% off vouchers.

Paid $70 for $176 worth.

But now it is nerfed to the ground with vouchers unable to be used and due to increased platform commission, sellers increased their prices too.
