Different opinions on product's expectation. No right or wrong I think. The constant software update requirement means something is not quite right in the design of the product in my opinion, not to mention the environmental effect and cost. But guess most people can accept this shortcome. Yah, missed IBM Thinkpad not Lenova Thinkpad. ☺

would be logical if he is still using laptop with Pentium 486 :o
Ya, threats, systems, integrations etc. are ever changing at breakneck speed as compared to back then where it takes longer for improvements.
Moreover, household products have different use case which does not require such active improvements since the demand for them isn't there as compared to devices like mobile phones, laptops, desktops etc.
Thus, the need to upgrade hardware is essential, though partially of course a marketing tactic too with planned obsolescence.

actually i kinda agree.

From corp pov, they want to keep earning money, so they will purposely try all sort of marketing gimmicks just to get consumer to buy their devices, can tell u waterproof, water resistant, powerful camera, stronger batt etc, but then again, do you really need those? i mean once every 2-3yr upgrade can, but some users prefer sentimental value of using it more than 5yrs, but they run the risk of being hacked or software bug since its a older device and os. Some consumer might think that they leak about hacks or bugs just to lure for u to update/upgrade ur device, so corp/manufacturer's, will profit lol. true and untrue, depending on how u see it.

give me 4D number and ask people to stop asking when ... :p
I went to look at their (official) FB page. Quite entertaining if anyone wants FOC read to pass time.

Example, someone complained about not being able to auto-roam in Malaysia. Said then no point using 8.

8 staff gave him the steps to ensure he's enabled the necessities.

Then came the user-problem questions. How to check/set APN. How to turn on auto-roaming. No phone type/model given. :s22:

Its partially true as outdated devices can be targets of attacks still, but the main motivation likely is the profit generation by device renewals.
So ultimately its user's discretion, industry can sell it however they want but if one refuses they have no way to force apart from planned obsolescence.
In summary, to each its own with some influence from the industry/companies.

This is the typical bs faced by customer service. HAHAHAHAHA
Most users do not have due diligience so we can always see complaints about not being informed about T&C etc. :s22:

Got 2 sim cards. My experience:

One can send/receive sms. the other one can send but cannot receive.

The internet speeds are slower than my simba line. have no tried mrt and town areas yet. In certain areas, cannot even watch 1080 yt without the loading circle. On simba, can watch 4k60p np. haha.
