Comex. But I realized they didn't give me temporary number. Lol. Need temporary number to login to acc ya (port in). Or where can I find the number?
Below is one way.

Did you not receive an email? Checked your Junk/Spam folder/s? No SMS?

insert the card to mobile phone and make a call out to another number

So have you tried calling another number to see your Caller-ID number?

I just signed up for eight today. Currently cannot login to the account via app(didn't receive otp). Is it normal?
Lol. You just signed up for Eight today at Comex, porting in your existing number. And you expect to receive OTP from Eight at your original number (since you don't even know what your temporary number is) already when the porting hasn't completed? 🤣🤣🤣

I guess you don't understand how porting works.

I'm guessing they could be skimming through the emails, just not replying. There're people who said they sent emails daily for a whole week or two before they got a reply, so if I'm the person tasked to look at the emails, I'd also reply until give up. Just solve the issue and not reply.
That's because the vast majority of emails people send are stupid, most commonly without the required information. Like "my porting failed, how?" And no other information like mobile number, name, donor Telco, when was porting done, online or at retailer, etc. etc.

Or it's a super simple question that is easily found in the FAQ and they get like hundreds of those.

Of course they just get ignored and they will focus on replying to the intelligent emails.

Then people complain that they send email no response.

Have to also consider that sometimes the customer is an idiot.

I sent email for termination of free 88 day line,
terminated and received reply in exactly 5 minutes

they can be fast if they want to (y)
Actually a fast reply simply means your email was intelligent and thoughtful with all the information they needed in order to reply to you. That's why it's quick.

So if one doesn't get any reply, it means that the email is... Dumb.

The vast majority of port ins proceed perfectly fine without any issues at all.

The questions you have to ask yourself is: How competent are you? Can you follow instructions to the letter? Do you know how porting works?

Most MVNOs are very much self service requiring the customer to be proactive in reading FAQs. If that's not for you, there are many other options around.

Most common reasons for port in failure (real stories):

* Mismatched ID due to number being registered under someone else's name, most often immediate family
* Mismatched ID due to passport being used for donor Telco, NRIC being used for Eight
* Donor Telco is a prepaid numer
* Donor Telco's plan is too close to renewal
* Donor Telco's plan is still under contract
* Donor Telco's number is considered inactive
* Customer ownself terminate number from Donor Telco before porting could complete

Avoid these common mistakes and there is no reason the porting should fail. Even if in the rare scenario it does fail, it isn't the customer's fault and that's for the donor Telco or Eight to fix.

To add on (my personal experience)
- donor telco system down
4 times port in got rejected by vivifi giving the same reason nric mismatch despite confirming that number is under my own id. They admitted that their system was down (how lucky, 4 times port in about same time their system was down and thus auto rejecting the new telco port in request with the same bloody reason). 5th time port in was successful as I had to keep spamming vivifi to make sure they received the port in request and system isn't down.

Thank you, this isn't the customer's fault so falls under the responsibility of the donor Telco. Should be a fairly rare occurrence unless the donor Telco is dumb AF.

so it means IMDA is not doing their job to scrutinize the telcos

with the influx of MNOs and MVNOs, the onus is for them to at least ensure the port-in / port-out done properly. If not, IMDA should penalise and or force them to wake up their idea.

Not sure why IMDA not as assertive as EMA. When utilities retailers one by one close down, at least EMA step in to ensure no customer is affected.
