Can't that be done with an esim for regular plan ?
How does tablet plan makes that different ?

Can't receive OTP with an iPad.

With the regular plan can only log in using the mobile number and receive OTP on the device, not email unlike say, Simba.

Port over from starhub, and picked up my sim yesterday. Now the old sim stops working (no signal). Although the new sim from eight has full signal, there is no internet and cannot make/receive call and cannot receive sms.

What can I do?

Eight Whatsapp says "I do not deal with port-in". Eight web form says "An error occurred while processing the form. Please try again". Any other ways of contacting eight?

Are you referring to receiving OTP to login to eight account ?
So it is a limitation with eight account management as well as limitation of ipad unable to receive SMS ?

Did you check the APN? https://www.eight.com.sg/faq-troubleshooting swap SIM slot or try on another phone?

Why would a tourist get that instead of the regular plan??

That is because foreign passport can only sign up for Data SIM Only Plan. You can refer to their FAQ - Getting Started.

it's for tourists who are visiting SG.
Tourists cannot use their passport to register for SIM card.

Tourist plans vary through the different providers.

If a telco comes up with a tourist plan, it doesn't mean it'll be data-only. Telco can come up with a certain package and label it Tourist Plan.

It just happens that Eight's tourist plan is similar to their data-only plan.

Some people want more data, some want more talktime.

At least they took the time and effort to continue to improve on their plans, amidst all those stupid questions and remarks still being thrown at them.

Spend time listening to genuine posts and acting on them, rather than just sitting there answering "I'm sorry to learn about your experience. Please call xxxx."

time for Simba to react. Maybe they should consider the $10 plan, on top of 3GB international roaming, give 5GB ASEAN roaming.
