Anyone here got use in JB? I think my data speed was ok until recently when they changed it where the local 288GB bundle applies for both SG and MY. Since then the speed in SG still ok but JB it frequently becomes unusable even though got full network reception.

I emailed Eight support they told me to switch off 5G because my phone auto connected to MAXIS 5G. Tried that and still the same. Tried to manually select network and try between MAXIS and U MOBILE as these are their two supported networks there and both the same. Quite sian since I frequently use in MY and Eight was offering the best deal so I stocked up on the CNY promo credits. 😅
When my Eight was still active 2 weeks ago, roaming in MY was ok. Taking a 60-day break now :)

Maybe too many eighters in MY right now due to school holiday 🤭

Wonder which service provider can be so perfect? What are all the bros looking for?
If got perfect one, once all flock over there, would it be perfect? ;)

One little hiccup and it would be chocolate all over again but without the withdrawal

Nothing is perfect.

M1 can have the "airplane mode" nickname for so many years but they still have customer cause it worked for some. Same for Simba infrastructure while they were growing up as a new Telco

In the end it's really just boils down to not testing or trialing the product before jumping head in first and getting held hostage by Eight, which I really find it funny

Cheap cheap cheap cheap

I jump in recently from giga. Happily using it. No complains and it's cheap. Used it even for hotspot and browsing was seamless. My parents and child use Simba for years. My parents stay at north and travel over in train to east often and all over. So far never hear them have issues also. Giga used to have more lagging even though also starhub. Like what you shared, I also don't find any perfect. I am 100% sure any atas phone using any line underground during morning peak will have chances of throttling. Also must see if phone settings default

The likes of Eight and Simba have no contract, so i won't say either has held anybody hostage if it's us we chose to top up lasting a few months or more.

Fault if any, lies on ourselves. Greed?

I've Eight lines lasting till Christmas, maybe longer. Lucky number from Simba, other than the top up promos. If push comes to shoves, really can't use at all, I'd rather put it aside and get another line that works. Why hold on to a phone that doesn't work? :s11:

A small cake shared by so many people, no choice.

Personally already accepted the fact that once i stepped in the train on CCL, network gona suck but will probably port my spare eight number to ZYM to check if singtel connectivity has improved there.

atas phone
Maybe atas phone has atas moderm that has alot of antenna powerful to latch on to the next base station quickly when underground. Then probably this will improve bandwidth and no signal situation :p

On a serious note, i think it's a fallacy - "I paid for it, so i must use it"
And it isn't really that it dosen't work, but it didn't work as well as what was expected.
It just boils down to this - Cheap Fast Good, but then those 3 are also subjective.

Speed good enough to surf text based sites like reddit / HWZ may not be good enough for TikTok

I don't TikTok so no comments there.

The other day I boarded CCL from Buona Vista, Serangoon-bound. I'd earlier on switched to Eight from ST coz the latter went for a nap along EWL. I was surfing HWZ and Eight started having hiccups a while after CCL train started. Took a few stations before I could surf properly again.

No problem with TikTok whether it's Simba or eight. My daughter was using an old Huawei p30 pro phone of >6 years. Can tik tok, YouTube, video. My mum using iphone 11 max video binge on ccl, Thomson line. Bus..maybe they are just lucky. Anyway iphone antenna are not very strong imo .

Wonder which service provider can be so perfect? What are all the bros looking for?

Typical sinkes, min maxxers. Cheaper, Better, Faster all three.

$8 plan.
Full Priority 5G SA speeds with Singtel level of speeds and coverage.
Full Data to include worldwide roaming.
Unlimited Talktime and SMS to include wordwide roaming use.
Customer service 24/7 hotline to call for any issues, CSO must answer within 1 minute wait.
Many official retail branches (located at all users convenience) to walk in to solve immediate issues including SIM replacement. By official retail means run by telco themselves, not "retailers partners aka neighborhood shop"

I have wrote in a feedback to 8 that their mrt tunnel is unusable Weekday peak, those facing issues might want to do so as well.

Otherwise they might want to change their advert.

Best Coverage

eight has the best network coverage. Our network covers 99.9% of Singapore with guaranteed connection in places where other networks struggle e.g. basements and MRT tunnels.

You might want to provide all your parameters of testing to them. Simple parameters are phone model, os, memory. Any background apps etc...

Any good alternative??
Jump to any other mvno or telco that provides 5G then?
If starhub is fine for you can consider GIGA 5G plan or myrepublic 5G (they using starhub infra if you buy the 5G plan)

This line I am want use roaming data overseas.
eSIM exist for these. Shopee lazada klook so many overseas data resellers
Even if lack eSIM, changi reccomend and NPN has physical sim cards for these use case

If die die need, then SIMBA?
