Qn on 8 port-in. I collected the 8 sim card, and it has been activated. do I just replace my existing sim card or wait for some sms before swapping my old sim with the new 8 sim card?
If your phone has 2 physical SIM card slot, pop it in to start using first. When the port in is done, remove the deactivated sim

I rather they come out with 512m/1Gbps at $8/30 days

Check out the following sticky thread in the Fibre Internet forum section why this is not possible.

⚡️💻 [Official] README First! 2025 SG ISP Comparison & Latest Promo Deals! ✨

1. Why it is difficult for local consumer ISPs to offer S$20 per month (with GST) Fibre Internet plans?

This is because NLT charges the ISPs at S$13.50 per user per month (1:24 split ratio). Therefore it is difficult for any ISPs to offer S$20 per month to happen from Singtel/M1/Starhub unless NLT reduces the price further. The lowest per month pricing previously was S$21.80 for WC/SIMBA 2.5Gbps plan but both have raised price (without wireless router bundle).

NLT charges --> S$15 per month per user initially.

Reduced to S$13.80 per month per user based on the following IMDA file dated 2-March-2020.
https://www.imda.gov.sg/-/media/imd...work/schedule-15-approved-date-2-mar-2020.pdf

Further reduced to S$13.50 from April 2024 onwards as per the following DBS article.

4g on eight seems quite slow today. i did speed check on fast website and it gave me 300Kbps..

Location is important. Where is the location? Now it belongs to peak hours.

All 4G networks will have limited capacity for some crowded areas during peak hours, especially for underground tunnels.

5G will have similar issues but may be a bit better.

For my current location Eight 4G LTE-A speed is decent, Taman Jurong Area, at a bus stop.

SingTel 4G LTE-A is a bit faster at 94.1 Mbps download, 47.8 Mbps upload.

SingTel 5G SA is of course much faster at 677 Mbps download, 73.6 Mbps upload.

I am at simei. Btw does icloud+ private relay mode affect speeds? i tried turning it off and sometimes the speed increases but sometimes its the same as when its turned on. Not sure to keep it on or off.

It will affect speed

But I think it will not have too much impact for 4G speed, unless you get really good speed in certain locations.

For 5G or WiFi I am pretty sure it will affect the speed.

If you are worried about security, then you can keep it on, only turn off during Speedtest.

But if you get less than 10 Mbps, I don't think it matters anymore.
