Yes, have got the 1 for 1 offer on top-up via Shopee before (offset the actual amount with some Shopee coins as opposed to paying the full top-up amount at the Eight service centres / IT Fairs Eight booth). Those were the days (of both Shopee voucher + Shopee coins via Shopee merchants --> Only Shopee coins via Shopee merchants --> Full Shopee coins offset via Shopee own listing allowed (if you have the full number of Shopee coins available) as opposed to Shopee merchants --> Restrictions with Shoppe coins usage on Shopee own listing now imposed) ???

1-for-1 promo is quite strict in the last event for both Simba and Eight, only available at the roadshow. Though some Service Centres and authorized dealers said they were included, it could be a purchase at your own risk (unless someone can confirm they did that with Shopee sellers in the last event). So the likelihood of 1-for-1 +5% is slim, however 3 mths free port-in offer and 1-for-1 has a higher chance to happen concurrently again.
P.S-Just saw your above msg, so you manage to grab that in the last event. Since you mentioned Shopee may impose the restriction so likely it may not be as lucky as previously?

We shall see though, bear in mind it depends on the cards of the competitors too. SH (in fact all local telcos) is quite helpless despite its desire to improve the profit margin. Imagine if say, Simba decides to keep rolling out 1-for-1 promo, it will mess up SH, M1 and ST plans of trying to increase their price plans, they cant even manage to retain existing price plans but to keep up with periodical matching promo. The only possible solution is a consolidation, then that may be the end of the price war, also the end of our honey moon.

It was great during the 1 for 1 + SAP 25% off vouchers.

Paid $70 for $176 worth.

But now it is nerfed to the ground with vouchers unable to be used and due to increased platform commission, sellers increased their prices too.

I encountered this 5Mbps speed most of the time as well. Not sure if it is a throttle of speed.

If it is stable 5Mbps, then it is actually very usable for web browsing or 720P streaming.

The issues are usually caused by either very low bit rate or very high latency, which does happen for eight 4G plan more often due to congestions on Starhub 4G network.

We have two SingTel S$15.28 lines, one eight S$8 line and three Starhub Prepaid S Legacy 5G lines (only 80GB local data and 1GB roaming data, two lines at S$3 per month with a special migration offer, one line at S$10 per month).

We use the eight S$8 line mainly for Roaming but my wife also uses it as a backup. It is well worth the S$4 per month effective pricing due to the S$88 one for one top-up offer.

BTW, we are not talking about difficult use cases like peak time underground MRT tunnels for NSL/EWL/NEL here. All networks and all plans may suffer for those use cases, including SingTel and Starhub 5G MNO plans with higher priority (even though these more expensive plans may perform a bit better than MVNO plans).

Starhub now offers 5G Plus for Starhub 5G plans (S$28 per month onwards) and Starhub Prepaid 5G plans (S$15 per month onwards), but not for giga, eight and MR 5G plans.

Better to go with MR or maybe Maxx if you want to port to Zym.

just to share my timeline for porting from Singtel -> MR -> Zym

12Sep morning: purchased MR esim with port over from Singtel
12Sep close to mid night: Port over to MR completed
13Sep evening: Go to store and purchase Zym physical sim with port over from MR
14Sep night: Port over to Zym completed

eight is supposed to have 1 month minimum stay but now no more penalty.

As for 700MHz signal, SingTel, M1 and Starhub should all have now. So eight should have 700MHz coverage now.

Just to contribute data point for Indonesia Roaming,
IndoSat (On their website) but in reality I only can connect to Indosat Ooredoo Network
Both apperantly are owned by different stakeholders although same company

Medan - Generally OK, you get 5G but in reality it's 4G speed and good enough.
Lake Toba - Lot's of dead spots, if you are not within a large town, no signal. Where's Telkomsel (Zym Roaming) has signal everywhere and useable. Some smaller towns I get "E" Edge which is below 3G, it's unusable even for WhatsApp

Remote villages leading to Berastagi, Medan direction, spotty as well, if you are travelling on those mountaineous region, basically the ring road outside Samosir, best to have offline maps saved. Many places I experience non existent network coverage.

Batam - Generally OK, but some indoor malls speed can be very slow.

Seriously speaking, lion city has relatively poor coverage and speed compared to other cities, if compared to Taiwan, they are significant better.

IMHO, you should not generalize based on the poor results of eight 4G plan, which is probably the second worst performing plan for local usage, probably only better than SIMBA.

I would not say low speed and poor coverage in general for Singapore. They are only at selected areas (eg: inside lifts, underground MRT tunnels).

Other than those cases I can usually get pretty good results from SingTel, M1 and Starhub 5G networks, using different 5G plans like SingTel 5G, Zym 5G, CL 5G, Maxx 5G and Starhub Prepaid 5G plans.

On Starhub network, I can usually get pretty good speed with Starhub Prepaid S legacy 5G plan, often higher than 300 Mbps above ground.

In this forum, eight, SIMBA, Zym and Zero1 are are the top four in terms of thread post count. There are very few posts about Starhub and M1 MNO plans.

In the real world, probably MNO plans will be the top four, Singtel, Starhub, SIMBA and M1.

This forum is more geared toward lower cost SIM Only plans.
