Pay 5 k per month but work 18 hrs per day vs pay 3k per month work 8 hrs per day
It sucks when you're starting out, but what we're looking at is the end goal of >$500k a year. Of course, a lot of people don't make it that far, but at least we have a much better shot at it compared to ppl working in other industries.

I agree with you that if I too have to work 18 hrs per day, I will rather start my own business or become a sale man for a start to build up my network & etc.

if i'm gonna work 18 hrs per day, i rather be doing it starting my own biz

If you have experiences working in construction site, do consider to work overseas so that your experiences will not go to waste & you may earn higher income compare to Singapore.

Construction industry is the worst of all ....

Engineers in construction industry are ridiculed by all .... including being known as Phua Chu Kang.

Always take the less competitive course if you're not particularly interested in any area.

Less competitive = potentially favourable bell curve for you = higher chance of getting good grades. Quite easy to find out that info, i think they still list the entry requirements.

To be accurate, it's not exactly 18 hrs, more like 12-16 on average. And, to use geforce's numbers as an example, the difference is not just the $2k/mth difference. The gap is much wider after including bonus. This is before you even consider the difference in increments over the years.

I am pretty ignorant in Banking ..... in my earlier years.
Still are, in my opinion.

Definitely, with access to capital it'd be great to start your own business. But not everyone is cut out to be an entrepreneur. Finance, like medicine and law, is a pretty safe path to earn your money. If we were such risk-takers we would all be venturing out trying to be the next startup star.

Haha, my brother have decided to end his education after getting his degree.

That is the reason why I advice him to take up MSc(Mgt) together with his BEng(EE).

Provided he can get in the MBA course lol

A Project Manager in Australia (Sydney) is earning around A$10,833.33 - A$13,333.33 per month (A$130,000 - A$160,000 per annum) while a Project Manager in Singapore earn around S$4,300 - $9,000 per month.

Now let us compare a Manager from Banking & Financial Services Industry vs Manager from Construction Industry.

A Manager, Risk & compliance (SOX & Ops Risk focus) in Australia (Sydney) earn A$110k-A$120k per annum while a Project Manager in Australia (Sydney) earn A130K - A$160K per annum.

It seem like Construction Industry can earn more then Banking & Financial Services in Australia (Sydney).

When there is an over supply of job applicant for bank jobs while the demand for bank job opening positions is not there, what happen to those not shortlisted?

At the end, they will still have to work in non bank industry.

Anyone you know that managed to land a job there?
