I just encountered a weird thing on my PC. After playing BF4 for half-a-day, my PC monitor simply went black for a short while. The PC was still running as I could hear the hard drive operating in it. Then the PC simply auto-restarted by itself and the boot-up screen asked me whether to boot up in Safe Mode or normal way.

The following details are the error code which I managed to uncover.

The first half of the code is taken from a pop-up message in the Safe Mode OS. The other half is pulled from the Event Viewer after a normal start-up.

Turn off the auto restart and see what is the BSOD code. Cheap and fast way is to reseat gfx or reinstall gfx driver.

I checked the GPU Temperature on MSI Afterburner and found that it reached 50 degrees without any application and the PC is idling. Thus, I shut down and removed the graphics card for cleaning. After that, I installed it back and the temperature remained stable at 38 degrees during idle.

Guys! I checked the GPU temperature on MSI Afterburner and found that it could reach 75 degrees when I am playing Battlefield 4. Is that temperature normal with my current graphics card?

And I just realized that I can see strange patches of artifacts on the landscape of a mission. While I am flying or driving, I can see the landscape been altered randomly in patches as I move ahead. Only the landscape is affected by the artifacts and the other stuffs are alright.

Is it my graphics card overheating? I just cleaned it recently. And I tested on Diablo 3 and StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm. No artifact.

I think I need to buy an air spray canister from Challenger tomorrow. To spray my PC and get rid of the dust.

No. But I tried playing Battlefield 3 online last night and there is no artifact though.

Then I played Mass Effect 3 and Battlefield 3 online this morning. No problem. Strange. The temperature is 35 degrees at idle mode and it will hit 58 degrees for Mass Effect 3/Battlefield 3.

my gtx 460 has been acting this way for quite some time now. black screen during games, graphic driver crashing, freezing screen while browsing internet. Is it possible that the card is dying?

Hmm... Your case seems to be quite serious. Is the warranty still valid? Did you check the ventilation cooler fan and the heatsink? Are they choked with dust?

i do constant cleaning and it appears that alot of folks are getting this problem. In actual fact i have been getting it for almost a year already.

just unsure how to resolve it. Anyone has a solution? It appears that this problem is quite exclusive to gtx 460.
