Anyone using CL's e-sim?
I got a line recently. Not too bad. I think only kenna 'airplaned' twice in the past month.

Because people who value such convenience will most likely be switching phones regularly. As you said, you stick with the same handset for a 2 yr period, so it would not affect you. For me, a physical nano sim is still the quickest way to swap from 1 phone to another regardless of charges until they make esim transfers as easy.
Ummm, swapping an eSIM essentially requires you to just scan the qr code with the new device & it's good to go. That's way easier (& faster) than messing around with phone covers, pins, & SIM trays.

I don't disagree so long the telco doesn't restrict your swaps to limited attempts. And there are some telco that do charge you after you exceeded the predetermined number of transfers.

Why are telcos stopping esim? I have starhub and redone (for malaysia use). iPhone mini can only take 1 physical and 1 esim

The good thing about eSim is that you can get esims plans easily online from alot of MVNOs for Data-only plans for travelling!

There is a esim "emulator" being sold, i bought the esim OMNI from https://esim.me , the one that allows me to transfer to another phone.

it allows you to load multiple esim profiles into their special simcard with a esim chip.
I plan to use it for JetPac when i travel on my Mi 12s ultra which has dual-sim but no esim support.

There was a Thanksgiving sale, so i paid total about s$80 after shipping to SG.

so technically, I can activate/load any esim profile on the esim.me card, and then move the esim.me card to my tablet for example, that does not have esim support. Or a Hotspot.

The shipping time is ridiculous, i opted for the normal shipping which took like almost a month!
it reached me finally, i was able to insert the sim into the phone and their app was also able to detect the esim.

Will activate a esim profile next month when i travel to see how it goes.

Another reason i wanted to try esim was this forum was talking about good esim deals also:
https://forums.redflagdeals.com/thr...-ca-us-aus-nz-uk-esim-138-hkd-22-cad-2486920/
But somehow, i think the 20GB for $20 by JetPac is still the cheapest.

Hopefully its not as slow and airplane as M1's network and non-existent 5G. lol

Yes, Jetpac was decent when i used it in Thailand. Local telco AIS also offer e-sim too at a decent price.
Local telcos really have to up their game..

It operates on the M1 infrastructure. If you have issues with M1's network, then don't bother trying. Personally, it works for what I need to use it for.

Only @ my workplace I face bad connectivity w M1, residential wise still works fine. Just speedtest results shows it slower compared to say Singtel etc.

Seems like M1 removed wording about 5G SA only being available on their physical sims, anyone tried getting esim on the normal sim only plans?

Does is specifically say standalone or is it just connecting to 5G NSA
M1 5G is pure SA. Which is why at certain places it’s so difficult for certain phones to lock in to a 5G SA signal before attaching it back to 4G.

wished they had NSA in place for better seamless switching

I just used eSim from ICC (got it from Shoppe) for my Europe trips, sim was from CMKH, was good though. Can’t activate in SG after added, but once touched down in Europe it’s activated immediately and data starts coming. Very good experience with eSim so far. This is my eSim experience other than Yoodo.
My daughter is going Europe for exchange programme. She is thinking to get esim also.please advise those use esim experience and what to buy. Need to get to use for 6 months. Any other recommendations? She told me with sim card difficult to use in overseas as need to put local service provider sim card. She use iPhone so only 1 sim card slot.

If you're using iPhone XR/11/12/12 Pro/12 Pro Max and the device warranty is over, you can consider changing the device's battery (assuming it's around 80% or lower) at Apple for $100, then go to third party to convert the device from single physical sim to dual physical sim.

I'm saying about battery replacement because the price gonna go up soon and since your device was modified, you can't change the battery anymore from apple.

I'm assuming what she wants to do is
- Singapore eSIM (to maintain her local number, for OTPs, etc)
- 'Local' SIM (for data, to make/receive calls)

Yes, this is possible. However, only M1, Circles.life & MyRepublic offers eSIM for mobile lines. If she is on M1 or circles.life, she can easily switch her current line to eSIM (MyRepublic offers eSIM but only for new customer. Existing customer with physical SIM cannot switch to eSIM). Otherwise, she will need to switch to one of these three (& hopefully her existing line is not on contract).

If she is switching, I would recommend MyRepublic & the $10.90 plan. It's the absolute cheapest plan with eSIM. In addition, you can use the MyRepublic Talk app to make & receive calls on her Singapore line cheaply while overseas.

What is the exact use case for her? esim is very common in Europe. The Airalo and ICC their eSim can be top up.
In term of cost for 6 month, maybe worthwhile to check out the local eSim price?
I was using XR, so one eSim for travel sim and physical sim for vivifi, both activated when I was in Europe, no problem.

the newer iPhone does support dual eSim activation though I believe it’s iPhone 13 and above.
