Hmm, still waiting for ROMs and more development for this phone.

Also they really need to improve further on the stock camera..

Still not sure if essential phone is a good idea even with price drop.

- Software support: For a near to stock phone, updating to Oreo sure is taking a long time. Then again everyone else is also slow.

- General support: If phones don't sell well, company may close down if investors have no confidence. No point getting a phone with uncertain future.

- The notch: I doubt many developers will update their apps to support full screen mode for just one phone. And for media consumption like full screen video and gaming, the camera notch is just an eyesore. Even if use black bars at the side, will just make the usable screen even smaller.

- Developer scene: Nothing at the moment as factory images still not available yet. So no custom recovery or root available.

- Camera: Just meh.

I'm only slightly considering.

Pixel 2 XL is already out, too ex and problems non stop surfacing. I realized even the original pixels have little developer activity, my n6p has more Oreo roms then them..

HTC u11 plus may be good but non stock Android is no no for me.

Now waiting for OnePlus 5T to be announced. That may be the phone for me. Can probably count on the developer scene.
