With the pixel 2 plus in the market, maybe will take away some diversion going to the pixel instead.
you mean it just unlocks and stays at the lock screen ? that would be just like waking the screen, right ? you can already see the notifications when the screen is awake..
It is like you are still chatting with person A and you lock your iPhone. You would want to reply to that person later on (as you’re currently busy on something).
Then person A continues to reply or sends you messages. You’ve read the messages but you want to reply later.
Imagine if you Raise to wake the device, and Face ID automatically unlocks, you will be brought straight to the chat. (And person A sees that you have already read the messages)
So the additional step to swipe is a confirmation that you wants to unlock your iPhone. It will be the same as you raise to wake but your finger isn’t on the Touch ID, as you didn’t want to unlock your iPhone yet.
Car modeWhen driving, hp is set to either side of aircon duct, how to face ID?

Tap the screen, the screen will light up. Look at the iPhone for Face ID.
Swipe up.
I’m not so sure Face ID will work if it’s in landscape mode.
Hopefully Face ID can work even if there is no direct eye contact especially when driving.
hmm.. ok.. which means to actually unlock the phone you need to swipe up.. right ? thats what I mentioned earlier and what I could see from the video..![]()
Well, technically swipe up is to go from notifications screen to home screen (or whichever app is still open).
Once you raise the iPhone X, FaceID will start trying to unlock. If you don't swipe, it will still unlock through FaceID. This can be seen from the lock icon going from locked state to unlocked state even before swiping.
And this is not to say you cannot swipe before FaceID has unlocked the phone, you can actually do that while FaceID is unlocking. Then, once FaceID has unlocked the phone, the phone already knows you are trying to get to the home screen and it will pull the notifications screen away.
TLDR: Swipe as per normal even while unlocking, it's seamless.
it's not constantly scanning.. the screen need to be awake, you should look at the phone and swipe up..
in samsung, the screen needs to be awake and you just need to look, no swipe required..
But this video also shows u need to bring the phone up to a certain level to unlock. I guess u can't really unlock ur phone below the table now. No phone in meeting/classroom anymore
