How to perform factory reset?

Just Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings.
You lose all your files but my iPX was not set up yet so it wasn't an issue for me. Guess we need iOS 11.2 to come out with more bug fixes ASAP...

Apple care for one device cannot be transferred to another device as it is serial number linked. However in events such as 1-1 exchange, Apple will do the link up for you when the serial number is changed.

AppleCare is absolutely necessary for a peace of mind, but some risk takers are willing to ignore Apple care on the basis of “not so unlucky” kind of mentality. I myself will buy Apple care for the peace of mind because if the screen cracks, there’s no way you can cry because no one can help you to repair unless its done by Apple..

Any way to go straight to home screen after unlock via face id?

You can don’t need to wait for Face ID to switch to the unlock icon before you flick up the bottom to unlock.

You can immediately flick up the bottom and Face ID will simultaneously activate while you swipe up.

Under normal circumstances it should jump you straight to the home screen, if not it will display Face ID on the screen if its trying to read your face.

just found out that my X is 25 days old.. ie manufactured on 9th Oct 2017. Found out using coconut battery software on the mac.
