Went arcade yesterday, most of the money changer no stock for TWD.

Those who have their rate is 1SGD to 21.5 TWD. I check XE currency is 23 something TWD.

Very bad rates there.

Luckily I saw your post. Was intending to go during lunch today.. Now don't go liao.

dun go is the best way to save lor. save a few dollars on exchange rates but spent hundred or thousands on vacation is not call savings.

I also suggest to bring cash and change it at the DBS Taiwan. The rates are far more better than here..

bro u wont enjoy the holis like that. I have been thru that. Rather u set an amount and just spent that amount. Else u wont really be as happy as can be.

Also u r not changing 20k 30k, ultimately it comes down to tens of dollars in terms of exchange rates.

22.5 and 23.0 difference won't save you much. just change at airport and enjoy the holidays lah.

in sg, the banks or $ changers need to buy in NT 1st den can sell to u.
NT is more worthless hence ppl dun buy so much. if ppl dun haf so much stock, how to gif u better rates. this oso explain y some $ changers is out of stock for NT

but situation in taiwan is diff. in tw, likewise, NT is oso more worthless, hence they r able to sell u at a higher rates cos they want ur foreign money wic is SGD. if u look at stock market in tw, the drop in stock index is very bad. tw market need foreign investors to pump in money to stop the index from falling. so getting foreign money is 1 of the way esp SGD.
but u will worsen SG market if u pump in NT

moneychanger is usually at airport or banks only. although some mega shopping mall or big hotels do provide money changing service but the rates is bad. sometimes is worst than sg

TW cannot get money changer anywhere. Only Mon-Fri during office hours.
The is another place to go when you are really out of money, which i do not recommend.

Can be many reasons such as restriction on currency movement, taxes, etc.
Maybe demand higher than supply in Singapore, hence money changers dare to put up more unfavourable rates, knowing that people would still change.
