For those coming TW soon, today's rate at TW airport is 23.49. Theres 2 money changers upstairs before immigration, one downstairs after immigration before collecting luggage, and another one after you exit. All rates are the same, but arrived at about 5plus AM, the 2 money changers before immigration not opened yet.

Seem like changing TW over at Taipei is much better. Just curious, if there any admin fee for changing at the money changers?

Exchange

I always exchange currency in Taiwan TPE airport. No matter what, the rate is definitely higher then in SG. Never change in SG confirm not worth.

I guess we have to see the situation. Under such circumstance now probably Taiwan is better but still please check before going. Back last month before MAS announce the weakening of S$, the NT exchange rate is very good here. In fact a lot of people speculate it will hit 24.

The benefit of changing here is that we can change at the so call best rate before we leave for Taiwan. But if we decide to change at Taiwan Airport than it will be the rate for that day only cos we need to change and start spending. I only did once many years ago due to the believe that the rate is better over there but in the end, my rates that I change on the day I landed is worst than the rate I change in SG 1 week before my departure.

Last month I change on 19 Mar in the Arcade as I happen to pass by and the rate is 23.83. After that no one got a better rate including some of my colleagues who change at Taiwan Airport when we arrive on 31st Mar.

And the tricky part is when you bring all your SG$ there to change when you land, whatever the rate you have to accept as there is no turning back. Just my thoughts.

Honest speaking, i do not know where you derive from the rates are definitely higher and Singapore rate sucks.

We compare from time to time and of course change at what you prefer.
Also have to factor in the convenience of your own timing as well.

3 rates to compare as always for me.
1.Singapore Arcade rates from forum inputs
2.DBS Taiwan rates less 1% for transaction fees
3.Taiwan bank rates at airport less 30nt/transaction

Like i say, there is never a definitely deal.

If rates at airport is sucky, i will change min amount.
The balance, i will head to Taiwan DBS bank to get it transacted.
That is the way to make it a sweeter deal.
