Doubt u would get better rates in taoyuan airport ...
have checked many times last year during my 5 trips to taiwan ...
everytime their rate is quite low.
for example, if arcade rate is 23.20, then their rate might be 22.xx

Thank you...

DBS Taiwan 22.866.. But if I'm changing 7k, the 1% admin fee is actually quite high :(

DBS Singapore also have admin fee for exchanging currency?

if u are changing so much, they will ask u a lot of Q one, very irritating one, do take note

you can avoid the 1% fee if u open a DBS gold customer bank account or similar level, not sure what its call

In the range of 22+ then Taiwan side is usually higher..Once in the range of 23+, similar rates..If 23 mid then arcade usually better..Only DBS Taiwan remain the highest in the above scenario..

So change 3K 3K at one time.
That's best.

I see, will take note. Since changing more money also won't get better rate, I don't mind visiting twice. Never heard of this account, maybe I go and check out first.

I'm going there for a 5 months exchange program. Not sure if Taiwan has bank account for exchange students.

first u need to go to something like SHI GONG SUO, something like a town council to get a HC number, some alien identity number.

after-which u can go to the bank to open an account.

Can always check with the taiwan custom for more direct information, or the tw bank directly

If u go to the bank directly without any alien number, no bank will accept u for opening a bank account in tW

since u are staying in taiwan for 5 months u may wanna open a 中国信托 bank account, but prob is, the ATM card is issued a month later. but the benefit is, all the 7-11 or most , has this atm machine inside for deposit or withdrawal.

wow this rate is quite bad actually, but thanks for your info!!:D

BUT, it seems like if u bother to change in DBS tw and bring back to SG, if rate stays.. u probably can profit some by exchanging TWD to SGD! u can start analysing on the last day of your TW trip

I am looking at this selling back rate while posting : http://arcademoneychangers.com.sg/ratesbiglogo.asp

Did the change at 21.88 at Chinatown where there are outlets don't have stock which many said low supply given by banks.

This is first time I came across no stock.

Thanks for the advice, I didn't change much as I had some leftover from my last trip... but kinda surprise of the "no more stock" situation told by the money changers...
