I always used them to compare prices. Then, I booked directly with hotel or airline. Lol...

My entire 3 weeks hotel and flight were booked through Expedia. Cannot tell if rates are better or not since I never really compare. The other I tried was hotels.com.

As for Expedia, everything was fine until my last leg whereby upon checked-in, was told that there is no such booking!! I have my confirmation letter printed. Spent an hour calling Expedia US and SG only to be told that they have no idea why and when my booking was cancelled??!!! Worse, they try to blame the hotel for the cancellation but cannot provide any prove. And their solution is? OK, we will not charge you for the hotel and if you need, we will try to book you into the hotel, please submit your booking through our website..WTF!!! I am standing right infront of the front desk now!!!

When I ask who can I complain to? Was told to submit to their customer service. I wrote in but no reply.

So are they good? Well, you decide.

DO NOT BOOK VIA EXPEDIA.COM.SG

NEVER EVER BOOK WITH EXPEDIA.COM.SG. You'll just be taken for a Ride

Cheats called EXPEDIA.COM.SG is the only thing that comes to my mind. I had made a booking through their website, alongwith an option for excess insurance. While the amount of 39.6 SGD was deducted from my credit card on behalf on Allianz and I got an insurance policy, the car rental never got through. Later on, the car rental company was jacking up the rates saying only that option is available, while EXPEDIA website was still reflecting the older rates.

On top of that EXPEDIA rep Jyoti, was not ready to accept what a customer is saying and asking to call the insurance company to get the policy cancelled. Why should the customer call an insurance company when the booking is done on EXPEDIA. He was also saying that the rates are being jacked up by the car rental company and not by us and you can try to book again.

I never had such a bad experience as I had with Expedia.Com.SG.

Regretting the time I thought that expedia.com.sg is a world class travel provider company.

Hi amigoeva,

Yes, there is a 0.8% Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) fee for payment of transactions in Singapore Dollars on foreign websites or in a foreign country.

In case you’re wondering, the DCC fee is standard industry practice, across various banks, and it has been around for some time. Should you wish to avoid the DCC fee, what you can do is to avoid paying in Singapore Dollars (via DCC), and do the payment in the foreign currency of the country or website. The foreign currency to SGD conversion will be subject to rates determined by Visa or MasterCard.

thanks for the clarification

but if charged the foreign currency, the conversion fees will be more than 0.8% right? =:p

i'm alright with the DCC fees since it's nominal, but it's very confusing when expedia charges me say $1000, but it's stated on my dbs statement that i'm charged $1008. I nearly emailed expedia to check... luckily i searched through the forum before i malu myself :s13:

it would be good if DBS can state on the statement (like how u do it for foreign currency) to avoid this confusion

Try out trivago, felt it was better than expedia

trivago is just a site that compares the hotel price by diff ota ...
u eventually have to choose one ota to book ...
it will link u to expedia, booking.com, agoda, etc ...

I used zuji few times as well as expedia and other OTA...
no single site provide the cheapest for all hotel ...

the price in zuji sometimes is few dollars cheaper tahn other ota, if there is discount voucher for zuji ...
normally wont book from zuji. coz u put 3 person, their price shown, may not include extra bed cost. so be careful of tat too :)

for expedia case, they would add in extra bed cost, if u put 3 person
if the room is a room for two person, and not a triple room or family room ...
